CPF Down?

Just saw Greta’s announcement. Lost posts, Again. Downtime while drives are replaced. Restoring from last night’s backup. Then she’ll have to “Re-Index” (Whatever the frack that means).

I’m so glad that I post here and not there. I would not contribute one thing to a site that so often loses what it’s members contribute.

Yes!!!
I cannot enter too!

It is hosted (semi)professionally. GoDaddy is the host, and as much as I’m not a fan of GoDaddy - they host a LOT of sites and seem to do an ok job.

The problem isn’t the hosting. The problem is Greta. She’s incompetent. She has no business running a website that charges sponsors for advertising time. If I paid to advertise there, I’d be LIVID at the amount of downtime. I’m 100% convinced that she couldn’t write an SQL Select statement, let alone actually manage a SQL Server with any degree of reliability.

She acts like CPF is a major application for a database server. CPF consumes about 0.01% of the resources of any major database engine running on any form of reasonable hardware - assuming its configured correctly and Select statements are optimized.

CPF is down for me too, it seems like everyday they will go down or have a slowdown

What?! CPF is down?! That never happens!

Now…let’s be nice…not every snob knows that they’re a snob!

Same here, no go! (confession, I do go on there to glean info at time, but isn’t my favorite forum).

I have nothing (ZERO) against the members of CPF. Greta should sell the site before she runs it into the ground. That’s sound business advice.

Good one PPTK!

I have been on forums for prob 15+ years and I have never seen a forum with as many problems. On top of that, the mods were and prob still are out of control and have been running off members. They ban some but many just get tired of the way the mods treat them. I am not banned but I found this place because I was tired of the power mad super nerd mods over there. They ran me off and now I only peek around there and once in a while make a smart ass comment.

I have noticed a pattern over there. More times then not, when the site is down, the banner ads still work. Might as well do some shopping while I wait for the site to come back up. One day I was looking at the site down notice & to kill time I clicked on a banner & it worked. I almost purchased a ‘high buck’ (had it in the cart) light but caught myself. Just saying Hmm.

Keith (who questions everything)

Slashya/Grunta or whatever she calls herself now is clueless on how to run the site IMO. I wish someone would buy her out. It is a great place to do flashlight research on & I don’t post there. You criticize the advertisers there & you get told to post it in the Jeers section which most people probably never read. I know that I don’t.

I have been avoiding it for a long time. Recently looked in….

Some of those buyers must be insane.

CPF down! I dont care.

CPF is down? What’s new? :stuck_out_tongue:

This is twice in one month I believe… an certainly 3-4 times in 2 months. I didn’t really believe it until I experienced this myself.

“If I paid to advertise there, I’d be LIVID at the amount of downtime”

Yes. 100%.

For the price of just one advertiser, the site can be hosted at a provider with an actual SLA. It doesn’t make any sense.
