I love this stuff since is the most used by me, also looking for this kind of torchs is why some years ago started my internet purchases..
With an XP-E the result is all flood much better white tint , the original 5 mm diode has a reflector in the packet...

I don't check it but anyway only has a momentary switch...'ll look that now...
I'm not much into cells and such and forgot that minor issue , kill the cells, was a bad idea , with a resistor would work but the ouput is less than decent..
At the end I swap the emitter with one of those DX sell at 10x4,5 which has a nice white tint and a bigger spot, anyway it was fun...
If it runs on 4xAG3 - it might be able to take a 10180 or 10280 - can't remember how thick an AG3 is.
But it might burn out the LED as they are probably depending on the internal resistance of the cells to keep the current sane. I routinely run a 3xLR44 light on a 10180.
This AG3 are really tiny, the exterior diam of the body is less than 10 mm , the thickness of four sum around 15 mm...anyway the R2 without reflector give too much flood, the currently emitter work way better...
The original 5mm emitter was severely overdrived since the sag is huge and in less than a second, with the XP-E the sag was very slow obviously due the battery which can't cope the current...

Smaller than it looked in the first pictures then. At first sight, I thought that was an 18650 beside it.
Which means I need to pay more attention to what I'm looking at.
