Who's interested in 90,000 lux @ 1m?

You’d need 122.5K lux @ 1m to throw 700m (.25 lux).

The light gets 80k lux easily. 90k lux is planned

Neither of which will throw 700 meters...

It looks like a great light but 90K lux @ 1m will throw 600m (.25 lux) which is the ANSI-NEMA FL-1 standard.

I’m not sure why anyone is saying this light will throw XXX meters. I have the light in my hand, I have gathered my data and I shared it accordingly. I never made any mention of max distance in the OP or in any of my replies.

Please see post #8.

Luvlites: That is not my post. I never made any claim on max distance. We all know Chinese manufacturers embellish the data. Even Thrunite claims 700m and the TN31 does not achieve 120k lux. Why am I being nailed to the cross like this is the first time some data has been embellished?

Like I said, I have this light and I have gathered my own data and presented it truthfully. I was hoping that would be satisfactory for you guys. :~

Oh, is that not the company that you are part of? If not then I can understand it. Either way I'm not mad. :D

Not trying to nail anyone to a cross. It looks as if that light’s a quasi TN31 clone and the graphic in post #8 does look like the same light you were posting about so wanted to quantify the throw, that’s all.
P.S. I have a TN31 and mine is pretty close to120k (112k).
Edit: Not knocking the light either. I’d be interested in one at around $100.

We love the light. Some guys just love to argue about exactly how many meters of throw lights have. It happens a lot when talking about throwers.

Well at least the guy never claimed 1000yds for a light that won’t come close. LOL!

I’m pretty sure I know who you’re talking about. But I do agree with you. A light with 53k cd won’t be able to identify something at ~900m. Unless maybe in a vacuum?

Jokes aside, this new light looks pretty solid for 80k lux. If you can dedome and fortify the heatsinking (like saabluster did) you will not only make the tint close to NW, but you’ll also double the lux numbers (but decrease lumen output by about ~35%).

Just food for though but it gets dark down there, not a void… but close. :stuck_out_tongue:

Its the only “gold rated” one world wide… i.e its almost darker and clearer then anywhere else on the planet.

Does anyone have any info on how to dedome an emitter?

It’s going to take a lot of careful prodding, and with an XML it’s probably going to rip the phosphor off when you do it.

Something that you might try, I took some 1000 grit sand paper and sanded an XML down to around .001 inches above the top of the emitter then polished the surface up, it seemed to get a similar effect to a dedome without the lumen loss.

All I really care about for the specs here are;

What aluminum is this light made out of

Is the lens a quality AR lens

Does the driver use AMC 7135s

Nope, judging by input voltage of 4-13V. Which is good, because that might mean it has perfectly flat regulation (impossible with 7135’s).

Jake, I’m down for one. Sorry I missed the hike. Miscommunication on my part. I’d love to do a saabluster on one and see if I can push the limits on it!

What did you use to polish after sanding?

I started posting on BLF more frequently because I realized that CPF was slightly disrespectful to dealers like me in posting in CPF. Everything was taken as an advertisement no matter what you posted. I didn’t appreciate the inability to freely post what I wanted to post.

I came to BLF expecting a more mature society of flashlight enthusiasts. The amount of disrespect shown in this thread is appalling. Members go and find a manufacturer for this flashlight and somehow put 2 and 2 together and hammer down that I claimed a max throw of 700m when I did no such thing.

Then 2 members take it even further by displaying the price of the flashlight and cost of shipping in my thread. The amount of disrespect I can not even fathom. The amount of immaturity in this thread has put an extremely bad taste in my mouth and has taught me to refrain from displaying any further teasers on any further projects. I don’t understand how these members can click the “Post” button without thinking twice about their actions.
