Another silly driver board

I need some help here.

I just received the second 8xAMC7135 from KD. I already have got a bad batch of five 1050mA driver boards without modes before. Now this one goes nuts. I Installed it in my new Brinyte C9 from ZY. It has also no modes and I mesured 4,0 A at the tailcap. What the hell is going on here? Directdrive? A short?

The first one of these boards, which I have got some weeks ago, is working flawless in the KD C8 and has exactly 2,8A.

Now the C9 is brighter than the 5XR2 drop-in. Insane!

sounds like a short. 4 amp draw most likely is a short

check the wiring and solder joints closely

Yes you are right. I found it now. In the C9 the board is pressed into a collar that has a smaller diameter on the other end. One element on the new bord made a contact with this collar. It is quite impossible to fit this board in there without to make a short.

The original board was an XP-G board with only four AMCs on it. I soldered two more on top two of the existing AMCs. Now I have got 2,1 amps. I didn't have more AMCs left. When I get some new drivers from KD I, will pick one that has the elements closer together, so it might fit into this collar.

try a different style board, instead of a 7135 board.

i have had similar problems in my Aurora V6 bodies. the KD/shiningbeam drivers (same exact driver) 2.8 amp is a good driver, IF it fits.

im in the process of buying and testing different boards now. i also need a more compact 2.8-3.0 amp board.

im also looking for a 4.5 amp board, having tough luck on that one (that doesnt need to be as compact lol

Hey old, I think the tittle of the post lack a 'on' somewhere...lol

You do realize that Illumination Supply here in the U.S. has these also? Got mine in 2 days.

Rich

drop, that price is average to high (shiningbeam is the same price, and you can get a large amount with only 2.75 for shipping)

also they are backordered there. so they ARENT in stock

you really love that place, but like shiningbeam (which is in NY) their prices can be a bit steep. ill save the money and wait a month for it. not like i need the parts right away.

i also have 3 more of this driver sitting on my desk, they dont fit in the V6 nicely, and the batteries jam up, too tight a fit
