Review: Roche F22 NW (Cree XM-L T6 | 1-2 x 26650 or 18650)

Can non protected 26650 cells like the king kong’s be safely used in this light with the extender?

Just the thing I would like to avoid…

Are all protected’s too long for this light?

I have only TF and Keygos protected 26650s and both of them work in my F22 (but are tight fit: Adding one 5c coin to negative end causes TC lockout)

I hope you have fun here, Johnson!

Short update: Bought 4 x NiMH C and noticed that 4C configuration with NiMHs is not good, since based on the voltage the light thinks its using 2x26650 and triggers the higher low voltage warning too soon.

=> Recommended configurations are:

- 3 x SubC with one extension tube

- 3 x C + dummy C with two extension tubes

Ps. I need to add that the new flat bezel felt really good in my jacket pocket. No worries about it ripping the pocket or anything. :) [The crenelated bezel has quite sharp edges!]

Very well, ordered this a while ago.

I see a tight fit as a pro = probably less rattle and no connection breaks in beater-use
No-fit is a no-deal for me.

Nice review.

I'm digging the soldered resistance wires, big time. Don't think I've seen that even on a pricey light.

Incredible review as usual _the_, thanks so much for your hard work! Frontpage'd and Sticky'd.

Thank you for the review _the_

What a wonderful flashlight for the money! 55 smackaronies and you get a variable output sideswitch light for 26650 batteries! WOW MAN.

Just a year ago this was UN-thinkable. Nice score. Nice review. Sweet light!

Sums my thoughts up.
A year ago, not a chance getting something like this for 55…

Initial impression on Roche:

Nice outlook, very tight O-rings, good packaging.

I still give it 0.5 stars out of five, since it does not give any LIGHT!

:weary:

On a period of week, I have now received a Fake XM-L headlamp (was R5) and dead 26650 battery from Manafont and now this.

It takes some current, when I press the switch but no light whatsoever.

How is the F22 compared to the Shadow JM07 pro?

I just have infinitely variable brightness in my UF-H2 and H3:s and i much prefer the UI of my ZL H31 and H600…

on this light yesterday. I ordered it from Outdoor International. They said it will arrive in about 12 business days. I haven’t ordered anything from these folks before so I hope that it goes well.

I like the side switch and the ramping mode. The extension tube gives it some versatility too. I might wait until it arrives before I get some 26650 cells for it. Some of these lights are built too short for protected cells. I can use some 18650s that I have here until the 26650s arrive.

I’ll post here when it arrives.

Cheers

Pretty good

Will the 4sevens 26650's work fine in this light?

I picked up this light at the post office last Tuesday, October 30. It’s a well made light with a nice UI. I like the size of the light in my hand. It fits me. It has plenty of throw for the head size.

I’m running a pair of matched Panasonic cells since I bought two 18650 sleeves with the light. They are unprotected and seem to fit into the light well. Protected cells might not fit.

Now I’m looking for a red filter ad a holster to go with this light.

Cheers

The KeepPower 26650 protected DO NOT WORK in series. I can get 1 cell to fit but is VERY tight.

Received a working one recently. Got shipping back as a refund, so everything went really well!

Tested also with Trustfire 26650 batteries. They work but really, really tight fit…

I wonder when are manufacturers ready to sacrifice another 1mm in length, that is needed for pretty many protected batteries.

What a great review!
Thank you

+1
How’s the F22 compare to the JM07? Anybody played with both?
