Review: UltraFire HD2010

I have looked at this driver myself the last couple of days but do I really need it. It has memory as well which is not stated on the web site.

Here are a couple of pictures with an 8 x 7135 in a stock pill that I have done with little modification. I know I have a lathe but I have seen some of you guys do fantastic work with dremels that could do this with little effort.

Nice work. Did you just cut the recess a little deeper for the new driver and leave the ring stock? I may have to dust off the lathe and see what I can do. I have a bunch of 3/4” alum bar stock left over from an old project but this pill is bigger. Hope I don’t screw it up.
I think the HD2010 is a great light except for the crap driver. Mine has HI, weird high speed flash. LOW, stupid strobe and even stupider OSO ( not SOS) I am aslo going to swap out the LED because the stock one is way too blue.

I just machined the step down deep enough to screw the retaining ring on and everything else is stock. The driver seems to earth fine through the small lip on the back ok and it may be wishful thinking but the retaining ring may cool the chips on the driver slightly.

Will post an overview this night

That's awesome, DNF . . .

Received one of these from Meritline 9/8/12 is this thing is super awesome. My new favorite super bright outstanding unreal outofthisworld super duper amazing throwing bright as all get out light!

have about 500ft shot down to where a fence and some cars are and its like daylight down there!!!

WOOT!!!

Thanks for the review everyone just had to wait to get the price down to my range! Think I paid $27 shipped!

Oh, very nice. I like it…

Just pulled the trigger, ordered the Black one from Lightmalls.
Someone commented on better finish on ano for some reason on the black one…

Might be almost the first light ever, with which I took tracking with shipping for extra 5$

That black version at Lightmalls is killer looking.

Also, while I was over there I saw they have a Solarforce M6 for $88.50!

It's $47.99 at solarforceflashlight-sales. There's some great deals over there but 88.50 for an M6 is pretty dang funny.

Congrats on receiving your HDs, guys. They really are fun. I made a post last night only about the fact that turning of the streetlight outside my place making me giggle like a little girl. Wasn’t all that well received, but I don’t care. The HD is a killer light to have.

I agree with Foy - the grey HDs seem to have a really weird fragile finish. I am very interested in purchasing another in black. Obviously doesn’t mess with the performance at all. But still. A torch this awesome needs an awesome finish to go with it, in my opinion. And TMart now has the black ones at the same price. So…

Don’t forget to use the TMPRICE coupon code, if you haven’t already. 8% off.

Oh, thanks! I am not ready to do this just yet. Just glad they have the black in stock in the U.S. warehouse. WHen I order, I’ll check for the code. Thanks again!

Are all HD 2010 versions 5-Mode Versions ?

Good looking yeah, but after ordering I stumbled over a thread about Lightmalls selling Fake products :Sp

LightTake seems to have a 3-mode, but it’s Hi > Strobe > SOS, which is doubly ridiculous.

That’s not what i was looking for  What a bummer…

That’s a great price can you post the link to the Meritline version please and thank you.

I just got my hd2010 from Tmart today and got a chance to test it out tonight. Throws great and has a really nice beam but the tint on mone is a little on the purple side. My emitter is perfectly centered, but I have a white centering ring on my led, unlike the black one on most of the lights I see. I tested the current at the tail, and got 2.8 amps at the tail (3.1 amps with spring fully compressed) with a king kong 26650 at 4.12 volts. I soldered a 22 gauge wire from the driver to the tip of the spring, and did the same to the tailswitch and removed the spring cap. I then got 4.3 amps with the same battery. One thing I did notice is that although it is brighter for about the first 3 or 4 seconds, you can see the output sag after that. It is not the current dropping because I tested it and it did not move. I think it just overheats and drops output or is the driver doin somthin wacky.

Have a couple of copper pcb xml u2s and u3s on order, and will be dropping one of them in along with a 12 7135 driver and some heatsinking improvements.

Whoa! Look what the cat dragged in! Welcome back U_235! You've been away quite awhile!

Yeah, had some medical issues over the past months. Looking forward to getting back to playing with my lights! Just got some xpg-2s in and plan on modding a C2 with one soon.
