Being a newbie here an not knowing Ric….can I trust I will get a replacement or a refund if the light I get has some problems? Since quite a few of you has hd problems I’m bit reluctant to buy the black one, but it looks so much nicer than the gold one……
Maybe Ric can answer

I actually prefer the gold color as its unique but would much rather have a matte finish than the glossy finish of the original. Ric, would it be possible to make a small batch with matte gold color and U2 bin?

Rainbow colours would be best

I have to say this is my new favorite light even with the slight rattle. Now when I get my custom 5 mode no flashy driver to work on this bad boy and it will be “The King”.

Hey it rattles when you shake it……………don’t shake it.

Mine arrived and its FAB,Luv it,A1

Great job Rik

DON…

Just got my new black king yesterday. Was stuck in customs for about 12 days, but it finally made it. Didn’t care for the idea of it not having a box, but it was very carefully bubble wrapped with multiple layers. So it arrived in perfect condition. Besides I understand the no box shipping method isn’t too unusual on budget lights. And I feel I should comment that upon contacting cnqualitygoods about the customs delay, Ric responded quickly. The light was released the next morning - maybe on its own or by his inquiring, don’t know, but for sure his customer service was good.
As a note I also have the original gold king, well technically I sold it to my brother, and I loved the little light. Just thought the black would be a nice improvement and the U2 emitters can’t hurt.
First impression is good. The light is beautiful in my eyes. Best looking little fatty by far now - Dry and TM11 can’t touch it in looks. Black with SS bezel is always a great combo I think. I was also pleasantly surprised that it has a gitd oring at bezel/lense. Nice touch the original king doesn’t have and I didn’t know this was suppose to have.
I use Eagletack 2500mah 18650’s for both the lights. I put in a freshly charged set and tried it out. Light function works perfect the first time and every time I’ve used it so far. The switch works perfect just like the gold one did. Light out looks great too. I do have a IS that I always test my lights on so I did a real quick test. Nothing official yet unti I have used it a few days, but the initial numbers looked good. It put out about 2500otf on start up, though did drop to about 2200 after about 30-40 seconds. The gold king if I remember correctly on official testing did about 2300 on start up and dropped down to about the same 2200 after 30 seconds.
My brother and I intend to do a full battery of tests on it and about 30 other lights we have in a week or two and then post of the results showing the two kings results along with many others.
Back to the king. The anodizing looks perfect, lense, switch is all perfect to my eyes. Only negative I can say, which is VERY minor to me, is that I also have a small rattle in the head if you shake the light. For me it’s a non issue that I had to look for to find. Just though I should be fair on this miny review.
Other thing I thought I should mention is that all though the two kings look identical, their is a TINY amount of differences. The inside battery slots and a outside fin or two are just slightly different. Small enough differences though that it might be a different operator milling each one. To me a non issue again. Besides that the bottom of the head, I guess actually the driver bottom or positive battery contact is slightly different. Again slight enough just might be a new batch. Looks like good quality and the light has great output, so again a non issue for me.
So that’s it folks. I couldn’t be happier with my new black king. Looks awesome and performs awesome. I’ll be sure in another week to post up more official numbers for both the kings and will try to do some beamshots, etc.

Good job sir, found very much the same myself with the new blk version.A very nice job and im no expert. What i did do last evening and intend to repeat again this evening was.Pitched the TM11,SKYRAY KING and New BLK One against eachother. My son and i walked into a local country park last evening.Thers a bridge over a canal that stretches about a third of a mile streight, perhaps a little further. Each side is lined by trees. Its pritty pitch dark along ther.Simply, the TM11 Threw by far the furthest and was the brightest. The jury was split between the other two, hence we shall do again this evening, good fun and i will see if i can get some images[try].The local Police wher waiting on our return to the car. They had been busting some teenage weed smokers that the quiet lane seems to attract. We got so strange looks from them…lol

DON…

I tested the throw on the gold king a couple months ago. It put out 25,100 lux at 1m. Real life tests showed the king put out about .3L at 300yd and about .1L at 400yd. My meter only reads down to tenths, but that should still put it safely in the 350yd range in real life throw down to .25L.
Never had my hands on the TM yet, so I can’t vouch for one. Always thought they were cool though. The king coming out at 1/3 or so the price with pretty equal specs made it an easy choice for me over the TM11 though. I’m sure both are awesome lights, and the Dry too.

The price has gone done to $54 for the CW and NW for only $57

Even lower here: 45.50$ for the CW.

Not the black one though……

Would have been a great deal if it weren’t for the shipping charge which they never disclose until you contact them. This is why I prefer sites that give all inclusive price with free shipping.

If you click on the buy now button (the paypal one) the total cost comes up to $50.00 USD. Still pretty good if you ask me.

Ok $50 is pretty good. Is the dealer trusted?

I trust them. They are in direct contact with the factories and dont sell any fakes. For some lights they have the lowest prices on the net. The better selling items are also listed on ebay, at higher prices to compensate for the ebay listing fees and whatnot.

got my black king today!

AWESOME!!!

popped in some equally depleted batteries just for a quick test… all were at 3.6v and were the focalprice green panasonic 3100mah protected cells.

the light ROCKS!

took the bottom cap off and lubed the oring and put it back together and lubed the top oring and theads a little more.

waiting for the batteries to fully charge. ugh… takes forever.

a follow up update.

i decided to do a little digging inside the light…. cant help myself…

my light does not use the original driver board. it uses a simpler board with a mcu, a few resistors and caps and 2 mosfets…from what i can tell by the part number… all the datasheets are in chinese but i think thats what the transistors are…

well anyway, i was under the impression that i was getting the orignal board so i contacted ric and he is shipping me an original driver board asap. great customer service.

well anyway while i was in there i hooked a meter inline with the LED feed (which also was wired differently than the original…. its still in parallel but 2 wires feed the LED’s and then + and - are jumped from one LED to the next) only got 4.5a…. hmm thats a little low and when i jiggled the light, it would flicker and get brighter here and there.

so i took the light apart and cleaned the boards of some remaining flux (driver and tail board where the springs attach) and used ilsco commercial al/cu connection anti corrosion goo on every connection where a board met aluminum of the light.

i also rewired the LEDs with 20ga teflon coated wire and reattached it to the driver through my meter. i made up some 12” 12ga leads just for this, popped the batteries in and hit the switch……

……. 10.25A……. 10.25A……

goodness…… insane……

so if any of you are getting low output, disassemble, clean, lube and possibly rewire. its ridiculous now.

so ridiculous that im thinking about making up a custom copper or brass plate where the led’s mount to help get some of the heat out of the thing.
