New Member, hoping BLF is better than CPF

You certainly are, as things are very much different here than the other site. Welcome.

Aloha and welcome to BLF motodeficient!

The really funny thing is, you can view anyone's age on CPF by clicking on their username.... It even says the following when you register there:

"Your date of birth and age are displayed in several places on the forum."

But you are not allowed to post your age, thats against site policy....

Hey,

things are much lighter here. And here people do like $2 flashlights...

Anyway, hopping not to get banned , I'm 36...

Message from "you know who":

"You were banned because you didnt obey all my rules. If I toss a flashlight off a bridge then you had better dive after it! Oh, and I do have a very pretty face! Men look into my eyes and fall in love because Im so beautiful. My behind is very cute too, but Im sure you already noticed that. If you send me $1000 I will reinstate your account, but not until you post a bunch of comments about what a nice lady I am and how sorry you are for challenging my supreme authority."

Welcome motodeficient

This Heaven compared to CPF Hell.

I don't want to turn this into a CPF bashing fest (well, maybe I do) but I am just glad others share the same opinion as me. This is the message I get when I try to log in, its awesome!

"You have been banned for the following reason:
Banned, until sufficient reason is offered indicating acceptance of our youth's protection

Date the ban will be lifted: Never"

There is no negotiating with an egotistical dictator with massive social deficiencies.

We are happy to have you here with us. Just curious, did you try to create another login at cpf?

Yes, I have. Once I get three posts I will decide which direction to go in. Either email administration and have an actually intelligent discussion about the obvious oxymoron with that particular site policy, or, and this is what I am leaning towards, write and post an essay describing in detail how I plan to accept the lead role in the protection of CPF's youth.

This should allow me to go out in one final blaze of perma-ban glory.

I found this site because of the 3 posts message... I posted twice there and never had the energy to post the third - the banner always sends me away. I think I was perma-bannered ....

I wouldnt even waste your time with it. The mods have nothing better to do with their time other than troll the threads trying to enforce hypocritical policies as they see fit. (You will never win) At least your IP wasnt blocked... not that it ever stops me in the least. There are a lot of good intelligent people on the forum and its another great resource for information. Ive mostly stopped contributing there and use it only for fact finding.

Gah, FlashPilot, stop doing that! You're gonna make me lose my lunch...

Someone over there either seriously misunderstands COPPA or needs to adjust his or her meds. Anyway, welcome to BLF from me as well, motodeficient. :)

I was never much of a CPF regular and I used to mostly lurk there, but I can say with certainty that this is a much friendlier and more laid back place. I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Ha! Been waiting for you-knew we were gonna see you come over here! I saw the thread that got you banned. Warm welcome! (I'm richpalm over there)

I am also tired of the Ministry of Truth sending everything down the memory hole and the little Hitler complex of the stormtroope.... er... moderators. Kestrel especially. And it is getting worse. I got axed for a few days last week over some global warming fraud comment.

And they don't like us poor folk with our just-as-bright, real-world priced, lights. If you're an FRG (f***in' rich guy) you're in.

I still post when I'm aggravated enough and use the good U.S. dealers for parts and read for info. Without CPF I wouldn't have gotten the nosewheel off the ground with modding and learning about lights. I really enjoyed it ~2003 when I joined and it was smaller and friendlier like this forum is now. I long for those days.

You will feel much more welcome here... I sure do.

Rich

The word is out and they have all finally been exposed! New discovery of hidden cpf moderator disciplinary training camp! Mistress Julia caught on hidden cam while training a new "cpf mod". The poor guy! BTW, where can I apply for this job? (with a gaurantee that Greta wont be my disciplinary instructor)

Since the CPF outage the other week there have not been a lot of new threads on the led lights forum. Other guys at work commented that they had gone off and found other forums and review sites and were happier with the crowd on the smaller sites.

I remeber a thread on CPF where a guy came on and said I've got $500-600 bonus from work , what should I buy light wise...and people were suggesting various stupid priced lights. I suggested he buy a $100 light and take his wife out for dinner... there were a minimal number of people who agreed the rest were focused on spending the equivalent of a months mortgage payment on a torch.

Anyway theres a lot of europeans on here and we 'get' Sarcasm --- Hey thats a great Surefire you got there how many lumens for $300... thats awsome dude !

OXY.. if you use one more acronym or abbreviation ... I'm going to murder you.

...Sorry... yeah Welcome to our friendly forum ....

Dang Boaz! Be nice now.

Don't worry, be happy....Smile

Hehe, yeah, sorry about that. It's a bit of a bad habit. I often read BLF on the go or while doing something else, because if I don't I always end up with a gazillion unread threads when I do have the time kick back. And that's where the acronyms come in. My bad. I'll try to be less cryptic. :)

And, for what it's worth, COPPA = Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

A warm welcome motodeficient! I hope you can enjoy your hobby (habit) here with a lot less petty restrictions. As brted mentioned, most of us specialize in and prefer budget priced lights, but of course no legitimate flashlight is banned. And as for posting your personal details... You can post your age, address, credit card number, and social security ID for all I care, just please remember that BLF is utterly, completely, totally, undebatably, indisputably, inexorably and unconditionally free of liability despite any and all dreadful consequences that might ensue.
