The THROWER Thread

Dont forget the SmallSun ZY-C10

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/smallsun-zy-c10-s-cree-q5-wc-230lm-3-mode-focus-adjustable-white-led-flashlight-1-x-18650-108290

I like this thread. We should build on it, instead of having 20 different thrower threads. Simple and informative. Comp chart/list.

I’m new to the forum, but am a regular visitor. I noticed there isnt much talk about recoil torches. Is there a reason why no one recommends them?

I would like to add to the list the small sun ZY-T13, with a small trimpot mod will out throw the eagletac M3C4 XML, $24.24 at Manafont.

Modification thread

Hi Silverbolt, i had a C10 but didnt care for it and gave it away, but it is certainly a good thrower. ILikeFlashlights compared his with the Jacob in that price range tho and the Jacob just edges it.

I think I read that same thread, and I have to agree with you. The C10 is good, but the Jacob is alot sexier. I have both on the way and will probably have something done to the C10.

No one likes recoils?

Dereelight dbs aspheric. It measures about 90-110k lux. I cant get the link on my phone though.

How about the UltraFire HD2010?

I don't own one, but I think it's pretty good for a single-cell single-emitter torch. (Maybe it's too floody?)

$33.52 at the moment.

Also the Thrunite TN31

EDIT: You can get the stl V2 for $37 at cnqg: http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1692

How about the Elektrolumens ST90 ……

Jeansy why listing the "fandyfire" version of the HD2010 only?

You can have it in many ****fire versions, Ultrafire, Trustfire, Tangsfire, name it!

The Ultrafire one I got from Tmart has an excellent price too 33,52USD, black or grey same price:

http://www.tmart.com/UItraFire-CREE-XMLT6-8W-1300-Lumen-5-Mode-LED-Flashlight-Black_p135768.html?cc=USD

Don’t forget you can get 8% off that price with coupon code: TMPRICE (if you haven’t already used it on something else - it’s single use per customer only)

I will list the cheapest version suggested mate unless they have driver issues etc. Thanks for the link, i will edit the table

EDIT: OK with the suggestions we now have the STL-V2 and HD2010 in the same price bracket. What do you guys think, should i add an alternative for each price range or will that make it too comlicated/busy? Also im not sure i like just having a aspheric taking a bracket, although this thread is simply about throw…… What do you guys think?

To my knowledge, at the moment all reviewed HD2010 have the same East092 driver, thus same performance

I’m pretty sure lux readings of the HD2010 are closer to 48k while the STL-V2 is around 52k cd.

Do you think i should swap it out with this so we can add a second, alternative, reflector vs aspheric or disputed lights?

Edit: Deleted and replaced first chart

OK mate, i will edit, i was trying to round them to the nearest 5 lux due to variances, but with these so close your right, i might have to put those figures to show the difference.

I think just put aspheric in brackets, eg.

  • 7G5V2 55k lux etc…
  • TN31 110k lux etc…
  • Dereelight nightmaster (aspheric) 115k lux etc…
  • 7G5V2 w/ collimator head (aspheric) 115k lux etc…

This is confusing...

I looked at some of the ****fire HD2010 flashlights from DX and Tmart. Some have one emitter, and some have three emitters. Should both variants make the list?

I saw the triple emitter one too. But I’m pretty sure the triple emitter isn’t made to be a thrower.

As Slewflash, i think the triple will not be competative in Lux measurements although obviously any multi-emitter lights will be added if they are the best in the price range although with the TK70 out due to the TN31 i cant see any making the grade.

I think there should be a separate table for multi-emmiters .
