liteXpress WORKX 501 3D flood-to-throw 2-mode (high/low)

I purchased a liteXpress WORKX 501 3D flood-to-throw from Amazon.de for 15€ some time ago. It's a rather unusual design and might be interesting to some people, maybe for those who normally would modify 3D Mags with aspherical lenses. It has 2 modes (high low) with a twisty-selector.

I wonder which LED is used to reach the claimed 210 Lumen.

The LED is a Luxeon Rebel.

Looks like the focusing mechanism pushes the LED tower into the TIR optic's recess the same way LED Lensers do.

I am not familiar with the LED Lenser mechanism, but the LED tower is fixed to the body of the flashlight. You move the collimator lens up and down by twisting the part above the cooling fins (1 turn) .

More specifically, it's a Luxeon Rebel in a TFFC (thin-film flip-chip) package. Do you have a DMM for current draws?

3x supermarket D-cell akalines with a voltage without load of 4.4 V are showing 0.32 A on low and 0.74 A on high, but the DMM is not the best... will do it again the next days with a better one (better leads).

Woow! I was looking for something like this! What a about a review of it?

Right you are. I love the flawless beam pattern and relatively high surface brightness of the rebels. Its what Maglite has been using in their new LED packages until just recently, when they changed over to XP-E about 3 months ago. I still think the rebel version has a much nicer beam and tint than the XP-E for a thrower. Very nice looking light & thanks for sharing!

Very nice light for that price, a "little bit" heavy and big for my taste

P.S.: yes, Led Lenser lens copy.

Plastic lens I assume?

Yes, plastic lens ... heavy duty aluminium body ... has more heft to it than a 3D Mag... together with almost no battery rattle, this "thing" feels like a solid metal bar... it's not "a little" heavy... about 1 kg... 3D Mags are featherweights,lol... ano finish is matte... zooming range could be wider (2 turns instead of 1)... beam is very even in full-flood-mode

Hmm...I might *have* to buy a couple of torches from them :P

I tried to get one but they don't ship outside the EU

I was in B&Q (*the* DIY chain in the UK) yesterday, they have a few torches in this range on their shelves.

They didn't have this one, but they did have a 4C version for £30, The packet said it had a Cree emiter.

I didn't take down what make it was being sold under as I assumed I would be able to look it up on their website, I'd forgoten their website was terrible and has almost none of their stock on it.

I'll have a better look next time I'm there, I was in rather a rush.

3D Mag comparison pic added in post #1

Current readings verified with better DMM 0.74A/0.3A

weight is 830 g with alkas vs. 770 for the 3D Mag with NiMH
