x2000 disassembled

I was just wondering if anyone has successfully disassembled a dx x2000 zoomie? I have tried and failed severely. Two died on me after small drops and one i destroyed trying to take it apart. I believe it is glued together but not sure…The pill and driver are STUCK!!! |(

Which one exactly? I modded a "x2000" light to direct drive.. its pretty easy, imo.

I’ve got 3 DX X2000 zoomies - one fell apart from recoil when it was mounted under the shotgun, so (naturally) I pulled it apart.
Disassembled quite easily!

NightCrawl - when you DD’d it, did you use a resistor? Curiosity gets the better of me, and I’d much prefer a single mode rather than Hi-Lo-Blinky
Mine appear to use XR-E’s.

No resistor. Its DD on high anyway. :D

Will get quite hot though.. even with all the crappy springs it pulled about 2.5A..

The x2000....one of my first led flashlight purchases.... Memories!

I don't have one in front of me atm, but let's see if I can describe this....

-Unscrew tailcap and remove battery.

- Remove bezel. This should be fairly easy to unscrew.

- Once bezel is removed, gently pry around the lens and remove the o-ring and then the lens.

- Now you'll see the pill. The x2000 unfortunately doesn't have any detents that would allow it to easily be unscrewed, so you'll have to get creative here. You may find you'll be able to unscrew it just using your fingers. (This part would really benifit from pictures). Once the pill is out, the sliding head can be removed.

Let me see if I can find that old thing and take a pic or two...

It does have the little hole punches in the pill/cover whatever it is….It just lookd like a retaining plate like the tail cap. The tail cap came apart NO PROBLEM but the cap that secures the LED in seems as though it is glued in. I used a vise and 2 10penny nails to try and unscrew it and it wont budge! Bums me out….I bought 3 about a year or more ago and all at the same time so these ones may be glued in some fashion. How is the slide portion removed? some sort of a shim to release the c-clip?

I’ll throw some pics up later…

PS: It is a DX x2000, 18650 version
