Gave to my granddaughter who turned 9. Sid like my lanyard with the skellaton (Who needs spell-checker>) head on it.
Down to SolarForce L2p which now has the best upgrade parts from L2m. Parts traded out to L2p shorter bezel, 3 amp tail cap non-standing. The other L2m will be gifted soon to my 8 year old other granddaughter. Grandson was give a light that was a zoom powered by three AA’s, 18650 or 26650 sorry but girls by accident ended up with the best, so just get used to it! Youngest granson to get his second light a button cell free-be.
Now in two years will start building up light collection.

Giving a 9 year old a li-ion light? I wouldn't. :(

:~
My daughter does the recharging is that ok?

I just would be worried about a 9 year old recharging lion batteries, I guess since it is single cell it would probably be fine. It really depends on the child though. :)

Well, while it’s a good and protected li-ion… everything should be OK

vision damage from the lumens, i am careful not to look it myself, nor point it at another human being

That's a darn nice gift TadpolePilot, I bet it made her day!

As far as any li-ion danger goes, hell I got a wood burning kit and a lead melting pot for making toy soldiers when I was 7 :) (Never was my parent's favorite... )

is what your granddaughter said, I bet. At 9 years it’s time to learn about some responsibility. My sons were charging NiCd batteries for their RC cars around that age. I set them up with good equipment and taught them how to use it. I told them that if they messed up they wouldn’t see their RC cars for a while. You know, that never happened.

Rock on, TadpolePilot, and enjoy your grandchildren. They are lucky to have you!

I agree with giving kids an RC car, with NiMH (nicads suck)

How many kids have cell-phones these days?

Provided the batteries are protected and the charger not too cheap I cant see anything going wrong.
