Well I'm going to get the KD C8 X-ML T6 that was reviewed on this site. I have many options for cells, chargers and better flashlights that I don't know about. What confuses me is the advertising of capacity. I just need to Know what I need for for longest runtime.
I do know that I dont want a cell that may shut off if I put the light on high, with any light that I will get. But I should get protected to conserve cell life, right?
2400mAh vs 900Mah? Well I just need to know what cell and what charger would be the best choice for this flashlight or any other XM-L light.
Whats the average shipping wait time from KD? I don't want to wait more than 2 weeks for shipping, which is why I think KD is a good choice right? I don't want anything From DX, due to the wait.
I'll be using this for forest trails, camping, late night boating, working outside (i'm a HD mechanic). I'm thinking I need More spot and flood than distant throw.
Stay away from those 3000 and 3600mAh cells. Stick with the 2400mAh cells. Most people like the Trustfire 2400mAh cells with flame label, but the gray ones are good too. Don't get cells from eBay unless you are dealing with a seller that people here have used successfully in the past.
I don't hear of that happening too often. Look around in the battery section and you will find recommendations of good batteries. None of them should shut off like that.
People like the XTAR charger, but a lot of people have the Ultrafire WF-139 which is about $12 and will charge a lot of different sizes. I use this one, but it only does 18650. I haven't had any more problems with DX than KD. To me they are about the same, but DX has better customer service and their website has more product info and reviews:
Average time is about 3 weeks. Usually it is no more than 4 weeks, but right now there are some serious mail problems in Hong Kong. I've had a light sitting at Hong Kong Post for 3 weeks now. The shipper sent it out a day or two after I ordered it (rare, it usually takes 3 or 4 days of "packing"), but it hasn't budged since.
It's a good light and the price on it just went down. Hopefully they haven't changed suppliers.
That 6-LED light wasn't cheap to start with, about $60. Personally, I'm not comfortable spending that kind of money on a "budget" light because it really is a crapshoot on whether it works or not. There was a Trustfire TR-1200 that a couple of people got which also had multiple LED's in the head. It got great reviews at first, but later versions were terrible and just didn't work or were really dim. That's a lot of money down the drain. And they aren't easy to fix because they use special parts (non-standard drivers).
Well from what I read, I thought KD was shipping quicker than DX lately. But If there both the same I will buy my charger and cells with DX since its slightly cheaper and I was planing on getting other cheap flashlights through them anyways.
Or if theres another online shop that ships budget lights withing 2 weeks, Let me know.
