FINISHED!! My Big Build of the season, The 3 Green Maglites "Listen while I play my Green Tambourine" FINISHED!!

Thank you, very interesting videos

I’ve wanted a Green Mag since I was a little kid. Never have got one. You don’t see any of the cool colours in Canada on the shelves. Spoesin now I could just buy one online.

I like the Nickel button better as well.

Thanks for these threads they are very inspiring! Where did you get the reflector for the D mag?

Green is hard to find. Zbattery is where I found these three.

CNQualityGoods CNQG. They have two that can be used for maglites, but they both require “massaging”, to fit. Material has to be taken off the reflector OD or the head ID.

Really? Definitely troubling if your word is to be believed (it is). The hardware store that I buy hosts from has no stock newer than Jan. 2009. How recent is this phenomenon?

Loved that slick Blue Brothers build you did last (or earlier this?) year. You can make that 1AAA size direct drive Nichia aspheric with a green Solitaire—the 2AAA Minimag head screws on to a Solitaire without any fuss. Grinding off threads from the 2AAA body should allow the Soli head to screw far enough on the 2AAA to cover the o-ring. Voilà, instant (<— as if) 2AAA penlight and a tiny 1AAA Nichia aspheric for a green quartet

edit: make that another vote for the nickel button

Slim, I just tested a 2AAA head on a solitaire and it did not screw onto it.

Thank you Scaru for checking that. The threads don’t engage any whatsoever? :~
I have an incan Soli whose head can screw a little ways onto my Mini Mag_LED_ 2AAA (purchased in August). I swapped heads and the Soli head didn’t make it to the o-ring cuz the head wasn’t long enough, IIRC. I assumed that would work with the incan 2AAA.

Edit- apparently I had issues comprehending what I read last night, meant to clarify that the MiniMag AAA LED head threads onto an incandescent Soli no problem.

Nope, it just slips right over the whole thing.

Ya...I can confirm that. The heads of the 2xAAA I have and the solitaire Justin sent me are not compatible. The tailcaps are though...

I could probably paint the inside threads with nail polish or epoxy (very thin coat), but I just hate to cut and join those thin bodies. Who knows though, they might still be 1s instead of 2s, you never know. I also got a couple XP-Es in and I might put one of them in one of the small lights....

If you do cut them down then I would recommend gluing them so they don't get bent at the joint.

JB Weld, if I do it. I would do Hot/Cold, but that might crack the super thin sidewall when the temps equalize.

A green LED in one of the small lights might be very cool.

Added a couple videos about this build. In post #1.

Thanks for the video on the switch. I’m gonna try the pencil on a switch I have.

More photos in the OP (original post). The cut down is done on the 1D.

Instead of using the freezer for shrinkage, you might want to try dry ice or canned air. Turn the can upside down and spray. You can get to below –40 degrees with canned air… much better shinkage than you can get with a freezer.

Dry Ice is fun stuff, that is how I was able to get a battery out of a flashlight. (Dry Ice and then torch it, the body heated up and the battery was still freezing)

Good job on the short green D-mag. You skill is evident in that seam Justin. Great videos too BTW.
