Assuming 100% efficiency, each LED will get 2.58 amps, but let’s round down to 2.5 amps because the driver probably isn’t 100% efficient (kind of impossible).
At 2.5 amps an XML will produce just over 800 lumens in IDEAL CONDITIONS - meaning adequate heat management. Since this is all in a maglite with what might quite possibly be one of the least surface area lights ever made we can also safely assume that this isn’t ideal for heat management. So let’s drop the lumen output by 50 lumens.
So, 750*3 = 2250 lumens.
This is just an estimation, but it’s safe to assume that it will output over 2100 lumens.
Also Justin, what is the ‘three finger figuring’ method you used?
Danged Okie! It is ILLEGAL to send TEXAS MODDED LIGHTS TO OKLAHOMA! Re direct that package to Amarillo immediately! This is the lumen police talkin here!!!
Oh, OK…. Good luck with the light…. … I’ll be a good sport about it…. >) No hard feelings here… :Sp
I am pretty sure I will like it. Now that it is official that it is mine, I am in the giddy mode. I have read and re-read the the build thread and oogled over the pics there and here. A question has come to me.
What does this mean?
The only other modded light I have purchased was the “E1320 5 mode UF 2100”. It has no blinkie modes and has memory. To over-ride the memory, you have to cycle the switch fairly quickly, helping to minimize nuisance unintentional mode changes. I like this UI and think it would be icing on the cake if this is what is coming to me.
I googled the driver used and saw that by default, it is a 5-mode scroll-through: high, medium, low, SOS, strobe; with a two second memory. This would be fine too.
Sorry, I am mostly just thinking out loud as I impatiently wait for this light.
I just received my modded mag here at work. I slapped some Eneloops in it and all is in good working order. The UI is as described above by scaru. The tint is nice and creamy.
