Prayers for Hurricane Sandy

+1 on thee prayers! I have some large limbs down in the back yard but still have power and Internet. Wind is bad and its raining but the really hard rain still hasn't hit yet.

Heard it was electricity plant/station, not confirmed yet…

Obviously

Stop at 0:31.

Compare the streetlights against the white light.

The difference is very big.

It’s probably just a wee bit brighter than what you can see with your eyes, if you check out 0:01s.

+1

Amen :cowboy_hat_face:

I hope everyone survives Hurricane Sandy with as little damage as possible.

Good luck y'all!

Rode it out so far here in Ephrata, Pennsylvania (Near Lancaster), Had to stay up in shifts all night in case we needed to fire up generator, but power has stayed.
Quite a few homes in my township without power, next door neighbor lost a pretty good sized tree.
I have not ventured out yet to see surrounding area.

For being where the eye passed very near us, I feel Blessed.
Thanks for the prayers and continue to pray for those hardest hit in NY.
Keith

We follow your struggles, that’s all we can at the moment. Our thoughts are with you.

Stay safe!

I hope as many people as possible make it thru okay. On youtube the video says it’s The initial explosion at the Con Ed Plant, E14th and FDR in New York City.

Please, go away with these conspiracy theory

I have been trying to stay out of this but Im gonna side with Speedsix, what is the point of "praying" to someone who creates things that kill thousands. I mean seriously you think that the chinese (most people are paranoid about them) are attacking us through the weather? Then how are they supposed to get a return on their investment?

Well, we survived fairly well off here in my neck of the woods. Some large tree branches down in the back yard and, up front, both cars have some pretty bad scratches form the neighbor's asphalt shingles blowing loose and slamming into the sides of the cars from the wind. No house damage and we never lost electricity or power although our friends in the area lost their electric. One couple payed us a visit for some breakfast and hot coffee. Once the rain stops and things dry up a little the fun stuff (cleanup) can begin.

Hope the rest of you got off as easily.

We lucked out too, only damage to the yard. House and all it’s occupants are fine.

Thank you for the kind thoughts pretzy

Thankfully no damage to my property or house. Some of my neighbors weren't so lucky. Trees down on houses. My next door neighbor's rolled roof blew off. What a mess! The whole neighborhood has no power. Luckily I have a generator and street gas for cooking and hot water. The whole experience was scary as hell!

Yeah, hearing the winds howl at 80mph for several hours was quite creepy. My kids kept asking “what’s that noise Daddy?” even though we told them what it was about 100 times

Me? I did not started with HAARP nonsense :~
And yes, praying is equal to doing nothing.

switcher failure, probably. Caused the transformer to catch on fire and explode.

That’s pretty impressive to witness, first hand - not many chances to watch a spectacle like that in a lifetime.

No, I was talking to saypat; same person as you. ;) Nice to know I'm not the only anti-religious person here. :)

How about giving it a break and just give everyone best wishes?

The intent (I believe), was to just let people know that we care about them and pray that they are ok.

Even an agnostic like me can and does use the work pray. Hope and pray that they make it through safe and sound. Don't bash those that believe and don't bash those that do not believe, just take a darned chill pill and let up will ya?

The point of the thread is to let people who are in the hurricane know we are supporting them and concerned for their welfare.
