Review: Skyray King (3xXM-L - 4x18650)

What company’s out there have sold mimic (or replica) flashlights in the past?

Or is it mostly just ebay sellers offloading the mimic torches?

Well, this is hard to tell, really.

Maybe you don't know, but in China they don't follow the same rules for copyright as in other countries. They are somehow used to copy eachother and resell the copies.

This happens in all production segments, not only flashlights.

This said, it all depends on the final user to decide. If you buy from an authorized store at full price, you HAVE to receive the original one. But when you buy from ebay or from the many sellers that have a web store and are anyway based in china, it's very likely you'll receive a copy. Is that bad? well, yes and no. Many times these copies are as good as the originals but at a much lower price.

Also, there are models of torches that have never been produced from the "official" brand but are widely available from the webstores. By their own design and manufacture, just applying on top a well known brand. Ultrafire are famous for this, for example.

Oh, and in regard to your battery question above, Ultrafires are generally considered cheap low quality cells, and meanwhile the original Ultrafire are supposed to exist somwhere, the vast majority of Ultrafire cells sold on ebay have resulted to be recycled laptop cells rewrapped in new coloured labels. Crappy quality.

If you want a good quality cell look for original Panasonics. They are available also protected at a decent price at Intl.Outdoor.

Other well respected cells are AW branded.

But search the forum, there are thousands threads about tested good and bad cells.

Thanks for the reply, to cut a long story short, I bought a Black Limited edition 2500 lumen Sky Ray King from CN Quality goods, and now that I’ve ordered I’m worried it will be a crummy copy/replica/mimic.

In regards to the battery question I asked, I have already purchased some nice Panasonic NCR 3400mAh 18650’s for it when it arrives.

Ok Guys, I received a reply from Jim of Manafont. In it, he mentions if he can assist in the return process? He quote “Please do not worry about the return shipping cost, because we will be able to cover it if the item is verified incorrectly shipped.

To save your time, I will do my best to issue a cross-shipping. So you will not need to wait for verification of returned item.”

So, should I be doing a paypal dispute before I do a return shipping or should I trust this guys?

Can't seem to post a pic but the version lightmalls is selling comes in an unmarked box with the darker, coarser braided lanyard. It came *very* clean and lubed, cleanest assembled anything I've gotten from China ever. Some dust under the tail cap. Light tool marks, no burrs or metal grit anywhere.

The pictured differences in dimensions between the mimic and the OG on Manafont are so close they could be caliper/user error.

My light is CW (looks a bit bluish compared to a NW) and works great except you can jostle the switch on. Unscrew the batt tube 1/2 a turn to lock out the switch.

Haven't seen anyone post a serious complaint about the mimic so not worried, but I'm a n00b. Thanks to y'all for steering me to this light!!

Are there 2 different drivers?

Apparently there are from that source, and those are two different heads in the pics above.

Hello:
Will this light take 4 protected sanyo 18650 2600mAh?

They’re like 69mm long…

Yes it will. I'm using XTAR 18700s in mine without any problems.

  • Thank you =the=

How thick is the glass lens?

On the King does the Glass lens sit in front of the O ring?

Glass then lens "o"ring then reflector, can someone confirm this please?

On the black SRK, - Bezel, then glass, the O ring is behind the glass, around the reflector.
There’s another on the body, at the end of the thread.

Hello, I bought Sanyo 2600mah batteries for my SkyRay King but I can't use it because they have a flat top...

Look this :

Someone has a solution to use these batteries in this flashlight please?

Thank you for your help!

Hi. Some have used magnet 1mm x 5mm +superglued around outside edges +on positive anode of your flat top battery. Otherwise, buy proper battery.
