Enlan EL-01. Outstanding knife

Mine arrived this morning. Bigger than I thought when I ordered it ( but I realised after seeing some of the comparison photos above that it wasn’t small). Yes, I know the idea is to take in what you are reading before buying, rather than just point and say “me want”

It’s the Bee version, and looks sturdy enough. I had planned to use it on my boat, but don’t think I’ll risk taking it out of the house, after reading up on UK knife law, and some of the posts here. I’ll just stick it in my shed, I think.

Great looking knife in the link - just too bad it lacks the flipper.
Nice anyway!

Does the EM-01 use the same strippable and impossible to remove torx screws of the EL-01? could someone post a close up of the EM-01 pivot?

I’m thinking of trying it over getting another SRM710, but what I found is that the SRM 710 and 763 have the more durable hex screws, unlike enlan’s T6-ish torx. I also couldn’t help but notice the 90 degree corner that sticks out when it is folded, and the lack of gimping on the ramp. With a few minor tweaks and drilled out liners this knife could have been potentially perfect. I suppose I’m just too picky about these things

I haven't disassembled my EM-01 yet, just adjusted the pivot a bit using a torx T8. Here are two pics of the front and back (clip) side of the EM-01 pivot.

Has anyone found a source for quality replacement screws for any of the Enlan/Bee knives? I’ve done a bit of searching but I’m not certain what size / pitch to look for.

Was out walking dogs Saturday and met two other dog owners that had been out deer hunting earlier in day. The discussion turned to knives so I took out my EL-01 and handed it to them. Both were impressed w/ its build quality and blade. One hunter has Buck knives the other carries a ZT. When I told them what I paid they were gobsmacked. The ZT owner just swore and flipped the knife open over and over. The Buck owner said he’d buy one in a heartbeat. When I told them I had two more of the same quality for less than $15 each the Buck owner asked if I’d sell him one. Told him to go online and look up Lazy Lizard and he could order all he wanted. Love my EL-01!

Just noticed this Enlan EL-01 on Ali Express. Is this a new varient?

Thats actually one of the better video’s Ive seen giving a direct comparison at the end, showing what a great slicer it made. An his point early in the video about the blade thickness directly applies to the Enlan EL-01

Oh wow a Damascus version, would probably look classy with the wood grips, still I’m not forking over the extra coin without even knowing what kinda steel or if its just a black etching.

Thanks! ordered one to try.

I agree, that damascus EL-01 is definitely sketch. EL-01D is supposed to be the wooden handled version, but it seems like they tried to spin it as meaning damascus. Either way, if exduct doesn’t stock it I’m going to assume it’s a fake, just like many of the other things on aliexpress.

M,

You are correct, the EL-01D model has rosewood scales, at least thats what ExDuct carries. OTOH, I have seen some budget Damascus blades recently so it is possible this is a new varient. Looking closely at the pic on Ali the metal layers are wavy but do not appear folded as seen in $$$$ Damascus blades. Until someone orders one I guess we all just have wait…

UPDATE: I checked the Enlan website. They do not show a Damascus blade EL-01. OTOH, the site is so difficult to follow let alone find the EL series knives I doubt it’s updated very often so again, it’s anyone’s guess if the Damascus EL-01 is genuine or not.

Another item of note. Has anyone purchased or seen the L07-1? Its listed on the Enlan site and it looks like an L sized version of the EL-01 right down to the flipper tab. I’ve checked both ExDuct and Lazy Lizard and neither even lists the L07-1.

Exduct says HERE that the EL-01 and L07-1 are the same.

Isti,

’my bad!, I never noticed that posting on Exduct. Thanks. I’d still like to see a L series copy of the EL-01.

I agree that a medium sized EL-01 with flipper would be great addition to the Enlan line.
The EM01 is too small for my taste.

Most of the “old” Enlan knife have now a Bee logo (I don’t like it - looks like Pacman).

The one on the Enlan homepage has a diffrenet screw (not triangel, not 3 holes - it has 4 holes), maybe it’s a new batch with a new name.

Buwuve,

I noticed that same pic w/ the 4 hole pivot screw. It may be an older pic for all we know. Its too bad the site is such a confusing mess. Looking at some of the various knives you can spot various models seen under other maker’s names. Some of the knives look really cheezy w/ cartoonish logos or cheap scales, not as elegant as the EL, L and M series knives. Maybe someone at the company will see our comments and update the site so its more user friendly.

It is a black etching pattern.

Got my 01 today from doingoutdoor. Well the small tory screws lost profile instantly. I´ve got some decent torx tools and could only unscrew 2 of the 8 screws. The rest is damaged now and I can´t open the knife.

Awesome.

Were the screws really too soft, or did they put threadlock?

I made a quick video comparing the Enlan EL-01 flipper to Kershaw Cryo (assisted opener):
