"Just in Time for the Holidays, U.S. Postal Service to Begin Global Shipping of Packages with Lithium Batteries"

Starts on November 15th: news from yahoo link

No mention about USPS’s ePacket venture with China Post when shipping from China to the US… though, given what I read here I’m unsure of what one might receive.

“Will the real Ultrafire please stand up?”

Really good news.
I wait for the CPC election to finish and buying batteries globally will be smooth and easy again.

Interesting, but note it only covers shipping of products containing batteries, but not the li-ion batteries alone.

Time to place an order for a bubble wrap container with 26650.

A battery box is considered a container isn’t it?

“allow specific quantities of lithium batteries — when installed in the equipment they are intended to operate…”

Cheers

i do not think it will be too long before flashlights will be shipped with batteries installed (hopefully with insulator caps on either end of the cells).

There is always a way around it.

Besides,
We have KumaBear for our batteries now!

It would be much safer to mail them shrink wrapped in pairs or in a battery storage box.

Oh agree 100% that shipping them in the lights is daft, but would anyone be really that surprised if it starts happening?

As soon as we make something idiot proof, someone will make a better idiot.

True! Having dealt with rental property I know some people that can break a ball bearing with a toothpick. |(
