One way of doing such is to send out products for review ....
If say over 3 months , some 5000 people are exposed to one product , that might only equate to a small increase in the sale of that product , but DX just might get some 5000 future shoppers buying other products .. + The review over time will continue to expose people to the product and DX ...
The short and the long of it , is there is no real downside for DX from doing this .
If sending out $100 worth of product every month for review , may equate to several thousands in increased sales . [ Not necessarily for the product reviewed ]
I have yet to read a review on BLF that would make me suspicious about the objectivity of the reviewer. Star rating is pretty subjective, the writing however always show genuine objective feelings about the reviewed item.
Hmmm, you think so? I personally didn't think that DX would be that dumb. Despite DealExtreme's many faults, thus far paid shilling has not been one of them. That's the only reason that I haven't yet slapped the "AVOID" label on their rating page. But you might be right. At any rate, if they select any one of us here at BLF, I'm confident that we will give an objective review with constructive criticism, and if they don't like that then they can just remove us from their list.
Exactly. And I hope it won't be meant for shilling. The other possibility is they want reviews on a lot of their non-flashlight products that they are selling now. It's just ridiculous how many trinkets and crap they sell and it may be they are trying to generate reviews on that stuff in order to boost sales. The flashlights tend to accumulate reviews pretty quickly already. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic. I'd like to be an optimist, I just don't think I'd be very good at it.
I think this is so interesting and we can all have a try, but i bet they are looking for flashlight reviewers. Maybe Dinodirect will hire such kinds of reviewer too later.
I think your reviews about the activities of DX are accurate and from this we can get the message that how DX acuire the future customers. But at the same time. we-customers also get a lot from it. so it is a win-win.
I did get a reply from DX, but I would describe things as pending... they want to discuss stuff over skype (which I do not use), I'm waiting to hear further back from them. I guess it was good timing, I was doing a write up for some dealextreme headphone cable wrap anyway.
Well, I did hear back from dealextreme. I had to politely decline their offer... they wanted me to review something that has nothing to do with my readership base.
