Enlan EL-01. Outstanding knife

M,

You are correct, the EL-01D model has rosewood scales, at least thats what ExDuct carries. OTOH, I have seen some budget Damascus blades recently so it is possible this is a new varient. Looking closely at the pic on Ali the metal layers are wavy but do not appear folded as seen in $$$$ Damascus blades. Until someone orders one I guess we all just have wait…

UPDATE: I checked the Enlan website. They do not show a Damascus blade EL-01. OTOH, the site is so difficult to follow let alone find the EL series knives I doubt it’s updated very often so again, it’s anyone’s guess if the Damascus EL-01 is genuine or not.

Another item of note. Has anyone purchased or seen the L07-1? Its listed on the Enlan site and it looks like an L sized version of the EL-01 right down to the flipper tab. I’ve checked both ExDuct and Lazy Lizard and neither even lists the L07-1.

Exduct says HERE that the EL-01 and L07-1 are the same.

Isti,

’my bad!, I never noticed that posting on Exduct. Thanks. I’d still like to see a L series copy of the EL-01.

I agree that a medium sized EL-01 with flipper would be great addition to the Enlan line.
The EM01 is too small for my taste.

Most of the “old” Enlan knife have now a Bee logo (I don’t like it - looks like Pacman).

The one on the Enlan homepage has a diffrenet screw (not triangel, not 3 holes - it has 4 holes), maybe it’s a new batch with a new name.

Buwuve,

I noticed that same pic w/ the 4 hole pivot screw. It may be an older pic for all we know. Its too bad the site is such a confusing mess. Looking at some of the various knives you can spot various models seen under other maker’s names. Some of the knives look really cheezy w/ cartoonish logos or cheap scales, not as elegant as the EL, L and M series knives. Maybe someone at the company will see our comments and update the site so its more user friendly.

It is a black etching pattern.

Got my 01 today from doingoutdoor. Well the small tory screws lost profile instantly. I´ve got some decent torx tools and could only unscrew 2 of the 8 screws. The rest is damaged now and I can´t open the knife.

Awesome.

Were the screws really too soft, or did they put threadlock?

I made a quick video comparing the Enlan EL-01 flipper to Kershaw Cryo (assisted opener):

Umm, I don´t know. But it didn´t need much to get them down.

All I know is I really a lucky one. Ordered 2 Solarforce lights, got 2 crappy ones. Ordered an Enlan, screws are crappy

I have only tried taking the scales off my EL-01D, but the screws unscrewed easily enough. The pivot screw foiled me of course. I wonder if they do that on purpose.

I’m sorry for your bad luck! :frowning: Hopefully you’ll have some good luck now!

Any chance of seeing that in slow motion?

You certainly have the knack Chloe - I need two hands (and about 30 seconds) to open my EL-01.

I don’t know how to make it slow motion. The YouTube editor doesn’t have any settings for that. :frowning:

Usually I have to use some wrist to help it flip open. I’ve got so used to the Cryo.

No worries, I was just commenting on the fact that you have the opening down to a fine art - blink and I’d miss it. I’m a little faster with the SRM M1 (just did it and got a very strange look from my wife). :expressionless:

Ahh! I’m hopeless with thumbstud opening. I don’t know how you manage to flick them open. I am editing the video now to make it slow motion!!

These things are all relative - I mean that after I open the M1 just a little, I can flick the wrist and open it (oh, maybe just the 10 seconds) lol

Only one out of ten times I manage to flip open my EL-01 without any wrist action. I'm better with thumbstuds.

I made a new video! Hope you like it!!
