New EDC 18650, the first flashlight using the new CREE XP-G2 LED @ Intl-outdoor.com

PCB dia. 20mm

switch itself is 12 x 12mm if you want to re-use the plastic switch retainer

Thank you very much…now to pick an emitter LOL

I bought this EDC 18650 flashlight host and powered it up with U3 1C LED + AMC7135*8 nanjg 105c . Really good set up. Gives much of flood for such a small host. Gets hot pretty fast on hight thought. That dosen’t bother me ’cause I use it short periouds of time and really need those lumens in these dark days :). Good EDC for me!

Here’s one beamshot.
Tree is about 45m away.

Nice! If I were to do it over again, I would do the same. I bought the assembled version with the U2 and at 2.5A. I ordered it with 5 modes for some reason, changed it to 3 modes, and added a 7135 back in (a 380mAh one) to restore it to a full 2.8A. The U3's dropped to $7 now, they were $8.50.

You got really long nights there now I suppose. Even here in NY its' dark a full 13 hours per day this time of year.

I received this light today. This is my second LED flashlight ever, with the first light arriving yesterday.

As I'm new to all this, I don't have much to compare to. But I like this light. Its body has quite a subdued elegance about it. It is very bright for my use of looking in dark areas of computer server rooms, my garage, and such. It certainly beats my 15-year old Maglite. I don't think you need beamshots or a luxmeter for that comparison :-)

It fits well in my backpack as well as my pant pockets. I bought it to always carry it in my backpack.

I commute to work on bike. Perhaps I'll get a handlebar / helmet mount for this light to augment my bike light. I'll decide that after I get my spanking new Shadow BL-21 bike light, hopefully in the next couple of days :-) Early Christmas!

Oh, one more thing. The prior pictures I had seen of this light didn't have any branding. The one I got says "Convoy S3", if that means anything.

Ordered on Nov 6th. Shipped on Nov 8th. Received on Nov 27th at California.

I hope it stays with me for a long time.

I’ve had mine for 2 months now, T6 3C with a 7135*7 105c. I carry it in my pocket daily. I did swap the driver for a KD 7135*6 because I wanted the 5mA low and no memory. I feel that the 2.2 A high is adequate for my use and heat is not so much of a problem.

I got mine with the xp-g2 , added another 380 chip only thing that bothers me is the “Convoy S3” i thought it would be blank like the host I got too.

What holsters are you guys using for these? Hank, any suggestions? I’m using an old streatched up Fenix (2AA) holster that works perfectly.

It can’t be an EDC if it doesn’t have a clip.

Post #91 - I'm still using it, it works really well for this light, fits tight. It doesn't have a flap over the top but because of the tight fit, I don't think it's going anywhere.

I beg to differ.

I can’t stand clips, and this edc’s just fine on that lanyard thanks.

This is exactly what Scaru’s nightstand must look like.

Mine isn't that organized, just a pilHost hosts, pills, LEDs, drivers, and more.

just got one of these today. XML T6. Nice light.
They’re back to 7135*8, switchable between 3 or 5 mode.

shiner - I’m thinking of getting one. How is the heat?

wahoowad: With a 4x7135 driver and a XPG, it gets pretty hot to the touch if left unattended on high. (ambient temperature here is about 28 deg C) With 8x 7135’s it’ll likely get screaming hot if left on high for long.

High mode starts to get quite warm after 3-4min, it probably shouldn’t be left on high very long. Medium looks almost as bright, without so much heat.

I am interested in the neutral T6 but I need to know:-

  1. Does it have real memory i.e. if I set it for low, would it turn it on low even if it was off for weeks?
Even better, when I swap the battery, does it still remember the previous mode?
  2. Is there PWM flicker at any mode?
  3. Is it any thinner than UF2100?
  4. Can I get a clip for it?

Thanks

1. Yes (did take battery off and put it back, remembered mode).

2. No PWM, but does "hum" on medium.

3. No, about 1mm thicker.

4. With little mod SolarForce clip will work.

anybody tried this? I suppose it involves using drill on your light. But unless there is room in the cap, it will be tough. Also, is it easy to drill on HA-III or does drill slip?

Another question, does it have spring in the head too? are there any beamshots of neutral T6
