XP-G2-R5 vs XP-E R3 worm copper

hello guys,

A dealer is quoting me a flashlight that has LED choice: XP-G2 R5 and XP-E R3 worm copper
Does anyone here know the differences/advantage/disadvantages between the two?

I would expect the XP-E to throw better, but the XP-G2 to have better overall output due to higher efficiency.

It's the successor to the XP-G. Greetings to kreislers home behind the moon :)

XP-G2 narrowed the viewing angle of the output to be the same as the XP-E. It’s still got a bigger die but for a reflector the beam differences are probably small.

I'd go with the XP-G2 over a first gen XP-E. Nearly the same beam angle but much more light.

Quark Preon1 have been out for more than a month

XPG2 is greatness! Its throwy and floody all at the same time, granted I am using it with a OP reflector though. Would not get the XPE version if it was my money being spent.

Don’t really have anything to comment on, just figured I’d quote this before you delete it.

Yeah, quark hasnt gotten much love lately. Nice lights, but seems like everyone’s dissing them lately, I like em cause they do use current emitters and where some of the first to offer a moonlight mode.

am not sure what you're talking about

One other thing I didn’t mention before. The XP-G2 has a lower Vf along with the higher flux bin. At the same drive current it will be brighter AND run longer.

They’ve gotten very conservative with most of their line and new designs have slowed. Most of the line hasn’t really changed much except for newer emitters/ emitter bins since they first came out. They’ve become the wife/long term girlfriend instead of the new love. What was once cute idiosyncrasies are now annoyances.

Well put bater, I hope they do continue to evolve. Even if its at a slower pace
