Finally ! RGB MC-E Driver @ intl-outdoor

Who’s gonna pull the trigger ?

Me!!! I've been waiting for a driver like this to come along. 8)

EDIT: Aww crap! I just noticed it's on a 20mm PCB. Why couldn't it be on a 17mm base? :((

>Modes: red/blue police strobe

Oh f-, the 7 years old in me wants this! (together with a package of nerf guns, of course)

LOL! You and me both! I was hoping it would fit in a p60 pill for use in a 501a host or in a minimag but no dice. :frowning:

I ordered the led/driver, no idea yet where to put it but it will end up somewhere (perhaps the uniquefire UF-V3, it is cheap, very nice and has a 20mm driver and led) . The UI of the driver is rather primitive, but I always wanted a quarck RGB, but it was discontinued before I found out about it.

This is one of the things I always wanted! (As well as some other things I came across at BLF ;))

Now I just need a host to fit this 20mm driver in, I would love some really small 18650 host, since this is more of a fun light and I don’t need a big reflector for throw…
Maybe the Sipik SK98 should fit?

Just a FYI heads up the 17mm version of the driver is now available.

Looks like I’m gonna have a fun P60 dropin to make

I was never really impressed with any of the RGBW stuff, but that strobe would be insane if it would fire each led individually at a fast rate, say through an aspherical lens. Like a laser show.

I put the MC-E and driver in my shopping cart this morning…I just pulled the trigger. Something new, something fun.

I did some builds already with these (e.g. in a Sipik sk68), but with the new 17mm driver I could not resist again . This led is so much fun, it is going to go in a small 16340 light this time .

i also had the mce and driver in my cart, along with the torpedo host… came very very close to pulling the trigger… if the torpedo wasnt a twisty, i probably would have

Im going to put one of those in an convoy M2 body, and see how it does, mostly because it seems that its the only readily available 20mm driver i can find, and might as well spice up some things with some RGBW

I got my package from intl-outdoor today and was pretty excited to build a P60 MC-E RGB module until I opened the package….

They sent me regular MC-E emitters. |( grrrrrr……

I’ve emailed their customer service and we will see what happens. I don’t see anywhere on their website where they sell regular MC-E emitters. Hopefully their supplier didn’t make a mistake.

my 26650 zoomie now has a purpose!!! yay!

The Convoy M2 takes a 17mm driver.

Oops! My mistake. I just checked my M2, and it does take a 20mm driver.

what other hosts are you guys using? will it fit in the torpedo 14500 host intl outdoor has?

the description for the torpedo host says its for an xpg size led… mce is quite bigger 7x9mm die

thoughts?

I got my package a week ago, and my emitter luckily is the right one:

I have the MCE color in a Sipik sk68, but have not made a reflector light with it, so to get a feeling for that I removed the lens of the Sipik and just played around with some loose XRE-reflectors that fit on top of the led around the dome , and my first impression is that it is going to be sort of tough to do a nice build. No pictures were made but it looked like it is quite hard to find a good focal point in which the four dies all give acceptable beam patterns and still maintain a decent hotspot. It got worse with larger reflectors, and better with more orange peel. There may be a nice focal point in a large reflector sanded down so that the emitter sticks deeper into the reflector, I did not try that.

One thing that will be a problem when having a reflector on top of the led (instead of around it) is that because of the thickness of the led you must find the room for that in the flashlight head (so it may be an actual blessing to have to sand some of the reflector away).

Does anyone happen to know where we can get an MCPCB for this?
