XML Beamshots: whitewall-TK35, manafont 3-mode etc.

Nice shots, mizjif Yep, that Fenix is very (or should be) good thrower: big a SMO reflector. Is it just me or the emitter is slightly off center? :|

I may have had the light at a slight angle for the shot :S I was rushing as I was doing it. I'll try another when I have spare time. The emitter looks to be pretty well center but I will have a closer look when I get home later tonight. I have heard of people receiving off center emitters in their TK35's but I didn't feel mine looked too bad.

Nice shots, Mizjif. I kinda like the J4 with the xml upgrade. Nice and smooth beam.

Very nice Mizjif. That TK35 makes me drool everytime I see it.

Of all torches, Id still have to say i Love the simple look of the TK35, especially over the M3C4, but the m3c4 has better throw, and a lower low... Catapult is well built but just too long for my liking.

Your beamshots have got me thinking about the TK35 again... Look forward to another set of beamshots ;)

We should start a thread for a massive group buy for fenix tk35 heavily discounted promotion from someone. Never considered a fenix untill tk35 showed up.

Any seller willing to send a free sample for a review? :P

So, I am not crazy that I am almost clicking "buy now" on a TK35 every couple of days... :D

hkequipment is out of stock, so, do we have a proposed seller for TK35? One that declares everything at ~$20 on customs form...

That is easy, but having customs buy it is the real problem...

The last parcel i got was a 20cm knife packed and declared as electronics with 3usd value...

99% of the times they don't care and they don't open the parcels, so if it is declared as a flashlight with low value ($20-$30), no problem.

if we can get a TK35 at $100 or so, ill be in the group buy. I could be buying a Predator for that money though!.

I have stayed away from fenix on purpose ..I have had bad dreams about them with a huge hose draining my bank account and leaving me in tears on the curb with a twisty light wishing I had a clicky... i always call them Fennicks too just for slanders sake .

They just made too many twist lights like it was a badge of honor and then stunned you with the price tag ..

But .. of all of their lights .. this one is most interesting to me too ..

even customs guys can’t fathom what kind of moron would buy a flashlight for more than 20~30 $ :stuck_out_tongue:

I absolutely love my TK35. Considering the features and build quality, its probably one of the best choices for a general purpose XML light. It can light up a room warehouse, throw decently, uses CR123s or 18650s, built well, easily operated with one hand, and is under $100. I have the eagletac MCwhateverwhatever (the xml one) and its just been sitting on my shelf collecting dust.

Dont get me wrong, the Eagletac can throw well and puts out just as much light but I use my lights in a professional setting and the eagletac just doesnt do it for me. It looks "cool", but I like the more simple "executive" styling of the TK35. I also absolutely need one handed operation and though you can operate the ET with one hand you either have to hold it an awkward manner or lose the tailstanding ability by installing the clicky switch (you still will need to use the other hand or hold it wierd to change modes).

If you havent already, GET ONE. You wont be dissapointed. I plan on getting another since Ive dropped mine a few times (no nicks or dents, just some anno missing). Works perfectly but Im anal about things and love this light so much I want an extra in perfect condition.

Sorry for the long post. I just really enjoy this light and think its real budget friendly.

I agree! I bought through fenix-store.com (free shipping world wide apparently) and used the CPF 8% discount and my total was $105. Cheap for a Fenix XML light if you ask me! best deal I could find :)

I got mine from Goinggear (free shipping in the US I believe) and it came to a few cents under 100 if I remember correctly. Of the few flashlights Ive owned so far, I love the TK35 the most.

Dsoto87,

So you prefer the Fenix over the EagleTac? Wow, I have the TK35 and I've been thinking I should have gotten the EagleTac instead since it appears to throw better than the Fenix. The one thing that stopped me was the fact that it's over 40% more in price and it's not 40% brighter/better. Your thoughts?

I am a moron that hovers between TK35, Eagletac M3C4, Catapult V3 and Solarforce M8. Please don’t tell my wife (or the customs) :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually do. But as we all know, favorites are based upon your needs, and in the flashlight world needs can vary GREATLY. For my purpose, yes the TK35 is all I need and more where as the EagleTac just doesnt have what I want. In every day situations you wont really ever need that little extra throw the ET provides.

Like I said, the ET definitely has that cool factor. The size of the reflector is amazing, the shiny strike bezel, the innovative control ring...the list goes on. But its just not what I need. The TK35 looks so much more streamlined, unlike the ET which looks a little cheesy to pull out when youre working around businessmen. It also has the perfect amount of flood/throw. Its no slouch either. My friends were in awe when they saw just how much light came out and how far it can reach.

I really cant tell you to stick with just the TK35 because I have no idea what you actually need, but if youre on a strict budget and could only have one, I wouldnt mind having just the fenix. I should also mention that the Eagltac has issues with water seeping in. I have dropped my lights in puddles/flooded areas and want the peace of mind that my light will continue to work after I retrieve it. My kids have played with the fenix in the tub with no ill consequences...Im a little too scared to even test the limits of the ET.

To me flashlights are like that one girl that got away. If you dont "try it" youll be left wondering what you were missing/if you were missing anything at all.

Buy it, try it, and if it doesnt work out you can always sell it... or if you end up liking the ET Ill buy the fenix off you

Dsoto87, thanks for the feedback. I think I know where you're coming from. I'm not familiar enough with all the technical details of these flashlights but I do know that the Fenix absolutely blows all my other budget XM-Ls away. Not even close. I'm curious how Fenix can get their light to perform so well and all my other XM-Ls look like they're on the freshmen/jv team. With some many lights I'd like to eventually own, I think I'm going to pass on the ET. From what I've seen in photos of beamshots, it appears that it may out-throw the Fenix by a tad, but certainly not enough to justify the considerably higher price tag. Heck, I'd save a few more pennies and get something from Lambdalights for that kind of money.

Thanks for taking the time to give me your opinion on these 2.

Well, they have actual circuit designers that work for them-and they are known for producing some of the most efficient drivers around. Their design is (usually) well thought out, and the heatsinking well done, compared to "budget" chinese flashlights.
