What is wrong with people?

Today I went fishing. I caught a couple of fish, a few crabs, had a few beers. Not a bad day out. I return to my car to find my back bumper half torn off my car. Some low life with poor driivng skills has hit my car with his boat trailer and then driven off. WTF is wrong with some people. Yeah and there was no note or witnesses.

I saw one once putting a note that says: This is just to let others think i am giving my phone number to you for the damage i caused. Cheers!

I was suprised that no one called the police as the language I was using was not pleasant and I happened to have a fishing knife in my hand at the time.lol It a low act and I'm peed off but what can you do. I think I need to buy something hehehehehe

Just don't buy a bigger knife. ;)

Don't get mad - get even. LOL

I wish I could "get even". Karma will get them I'm sure.

Same thing happened to me EDC. Some bugger hit the back of my bumper in a carpark and drove off!!!!

don't have a pride and they don't respect other peoples property at all. They are simply criminals and well, of course, they can't drive. Modern cars are to easy to drive, that's why nowadays every moron has a driving licence.

I learned how to drive on an old army truck of the year 1954. Breathtaking 120 hp, no hydro, no servo, four unsynchronisized grears. I guess, an average young truck driver wouldn't even be able to pass to the second gear with that. The handbrake lever was about one meter long and the steering wheel was 90 cm diameter. Six full turns from all left to all right, but still to hard to turn in low speed. It didn't even have a thermostat. We had to keep the temperature of the engine correct, by raising and lowering some kind of blind in front of the radiator. Rule of thumb:uphill = blind down (open) - downhill = blind up (closed).

That was when driving was still a damn hard work. In driving uphill the trick was, to be able to pass the second gear fast enough, before the truck starts rolling backwards. Once you managed to pass the second, you had to turn that steering wheel as fast as possible for the turns, in order not to be forced to pass into the first gear again.

Now, I will not proceed to explain, how to pass to a lower gear downhill, with full load and a trailer, by using motor brake and handbrake. Just a hint. When you push the clutch pedal down while on full motor brake the engine will go off and the truck will run away crazy fast. I case, in this moment you manage to pass the gear to neutral, you are lost. You need to brake, to push the clutch and to accellerate in order to synchronisize, otherwise you will grind down the gears, but you have got two feet only. In the meantime you have to do some multitasking with your two hands between steering, gear, motorbreak and handbrake.

Ah, and don't forget to monitor your engine temperature, while doing that. Oh, and I forgot to tell: Of course, this truck had the steering on the wrong side.

people were always rotten. Whichever car I got, it didn't take more than three weeks before someone else slammed his door into it in a parking lot. They scratch the paint, scratch window glass, bump into the fenders and leave. An awful lot of folks just don't care and don't show the slightest sense of responsibility. They will even lie in court when they have caused an accident because they ran a red light. Hit-and-run accidents are a felony over here in Germany, which will be sanctioned by suspending the driver's license and a hefty fine; still it is terribly common practice.

@ Oldienea:

experiences like that last for life!

I learned to drive in an tiny, ugly, anemic Fiat with an unsynchronized fourspeed, defective choke and one stuck exhaust valve lifter. Power-nothing, all manually operated. Fuel gauge, speedo, odometer and a little red lamp monitoring basic charging current were the only instruments in there which would let you know a glimpse about what was going on under the hood; everything else was "drive by feel" mostly.

It left quite an impression, and even to this day I feel more comfortable with a manual gearbox. Nothing against auto trannies, but I still prefer driving stick (and still catch myself double-declutching from time to time).

Yes, me too, quite often

Not my first time either. 3 week old new car and some one opened their car door onto my car door and put a nice dent/ scratch on it. 6 months later someone ran into it. Was my first and last time buying a new car.

This event was more serious. My bumper was almost completely removed. I had to tie it on so I could get home. The person owns a boat and a good enough car to tow it so should have some experience backing / towing/ driving. Had they left their details we could have worked something out without involving insurance companies etc. Karma is coming....

... oh ok maybe once I did a bad thing ...I always say if my life were laid bare in front of people they would take up big stones and bash my skull in and go home and sleep like babies ...i know I have been a bad boy ..Sadly if each of us had our lives laid bear before others ..We would all be crushed under a pile of rocks . thank God stoning has gone out of fashion.

this is my nice way of saying ... you got off easy ..Smile and say ..it could have been worse .....you could have caught them .

Yup. Anyone who does what I do and who doesn't know they are a hypocrite is outright psychotic.

But i still don't like those who can't control their vehicles. Having spent many years as a biker, you get to know how few drivers are actually aware of how to control a motor vehicle. Or how to look out for other road users.

If the vehicle says Volvo on the front, get a long, long way away from it. Volvos are unnecessarily complicated white sticks for the blind.

20 years ago a very senior psychiatrist where I work thought i was severely paranoid. Till I put him on the back of my motorcycle and took him through the centre of this city. He thought I wasn't paranoid enough after that experience.

Other road users. Avoid!

Even when the vehicle is parked.

With synchros technically you don't need to, but it's actually good for your transmission nonetheless. It'll save your synchros if you plan on keeping your car for awhile, especially if you like to shift at higher rpms.

People often don't realize they're not only endangering themselves, but also those around them. A car weighing over 3000lbs going over 50Km/h can do serious damage, but people don't realize that. In fact most people probably have no idea how heavy their car is (or how fast they're going for that matter).

go back next weekend and see if there are any damaged trailers or trailers with your paint color on them lol

When I learned how to operate a motorcycle many, many moons ago, I was taught to always, always assume that people were purposely out to murder me, which seemed weird and somewhat crass to me at the time. That is until I got to a t-shaped intersection with absolutely no distractions whatsoever, in broad daylight with no other traffic around, where a lady driving a Volvo decided she couldn't afford to yield for two more seconds despite me having the right of way. This was back when you had to buy a BMW motorcycle if you wanted ABS and real men walked twenty miles to the store uphill, both ways, in the snow and we liked it so, as you might expect, that turned out to be an interesting experiment in not makng out with the ground. ;) I still have that attitude, especially when riding my bike or with the kids in the car. I don't really care if I have the right of way: the laws of physics always supersede the laws of men and I'd rather get there a minute later than not get there at all.

Well said. Sounds like Oxy Moron isn't a moron. Is that an oxymoron? =D

Sixfink would be happier today, if they they only all knew the size of their car is and specially how wide their trailer is.

I only buy used cars.

I don't buy a new car that I don't need, with money that I don't have, just to impress some people which I don't like.

Avoid solid objects at all costs ..And make your last move your best move .

EDC ...i'm sorry about your car ...I know the feeling .
