SOLD= FireFox I 35W Mini HID

SOLD

FS is an Unobtainium, the world’s smallest 35W HID, the legendary Firefox I, not FF II & not FF III (both II & III are fatter),

This is the custom run in 2009 that started the Firefox HID revolution and still the slimmest HID in the family.

This has been in my collection for some time & used in multiple shoot outs,
it pretty much won every battle in the woods.

Comes with the original Box & paper, in near perfect condition, a few pin spot around tail cap only.

Price reduced to $279, The FF1 will beat TN31 or ebay 35W HID at 1/3 the size!

so I can try it out over the course of 6 months and then I’ll post some beamshots too?

Is this your second specimen of the 1st which you last sold in July this year?

Yes, I have loved the FF1 some much I have managed to collect more than one over the years,

The one sold before measured 100K lux, this one measured 115 K lux, that’s why this is the “keeper” when I decided to let one of them go before. Also, for this one, I added the SR51 carrying holder which fits the FF1 pretty well. Almost exact size as SR51 but more than 2x the throw and more than 3x the lumen than SR51.

Hi masha1, yes it is tempting. But I already have a HID.

Btw, my heart goes to your Newtown victims esp the kids…

Anyone thinking of getting this FF1 should note that this is a great sale at below the cost of the 1st one sold in Jul.

I gotta say, I’m not that impressed from the CPF beamshots. The SR50 is doing damn good. The FF should blow it away, but it just sort of out-powers it. I’d expect more for that price.

Thanks, The Newtown shooting is a terrible tragedy, is too close to home, I almost didn’t let my 6 year old to go to his Christmas carol at school last night.

One more thing to mention, FF3 doesn’t have SMO. The FF I has SMO but, yet with a perfect beam, very hard to achieve with HID, only Polarian had achieved that, ebay HIDs use SMO but usually comes with crappy beam .

Bah... I'm trying to tell myself I don't need this... it's not working too well.

Out of curiosity, where would one source a replacement lamp for it - or isn't that really a concern? And why the large output difference between this and the FF3 if they're both roughly the same output power (35/40w)?

My son is also 6 and starting prep 1 in Jan too! I would have happily grabbed your FF1 to play with him if I didn’t already have an HID…

Hi Match,

The bulb is standard HID bulb. The developer Shinetop, peeled the outer enveolope, use bare inner bulb to achieve best optical beam possible, and gain another 10% or so w/o reflection loss that would have been lost. As a result, the light has higher UV output.

he had a post on CPF that he replaced the lens with a UV lens that blocks visible light, made a powerful UV light & took some nice funky shots in the forest where it’s a different world under UV.

Shinetop on shoudian.com still take cares of FFI bulb replacement as this was custom run not a production light, , he is in china, not very practical, however, I have never seen a guy that needed a replacement.

I was not concerned by that also as I know I could open the head & figure out how to replace the bulb, a man with your skill level, no worries.

I know part of the explanation is that HID efficiency goes up with power, the FF3 is actually 50W input, output around 43W, marketed as 40W.
