NOW 70% OFF COUPON!! DIY TorchLite 2x26650 XM-L, SST-90, SST-50 etc Host!

I guess you are right, but the green PCB board and spring in that picture though look just like the one that is included for use in the heatsink / driver.

The switches that came with these lights look different than the one in that picture.

Here a large picture is with things labeled. If you want I'll take a picture of one of my switches.

What I was saying is the board and spring (which you pointed out is actually part of the switch assembly) is very similar to the board and spring that is included for the driver contact board.

I snapped a picture of the board and spring that are included.

Hopefully that clears up the confusion.

Hard to tell but it looks like the smaller head. If you have the larger head (I believe called the “shooter” or as an option), let me know and I’d be in for one.

Would love to have one with more throw and a long runtime.

Any driver you would recommend that could handle 8.4V and run at 2.8 amps?

Hi, I have a shooter on hand (a sample) and the head size is exactly the same. The ones I’m selling here just have a longer body tube to accommodate 2x26650’s.

If you are interested in the smaller shooter I can sell you the sample I have, its in good overall shape but has one tiny nick in the front bezel. I’d sell it for $35 shipped (USA only).

As for drivers, I have not used this, but something like this: http://dx.com/p/6-18v-3000ma-3-mode-circuit-board-for-xm-lt60-emitters-57779

Here is another one: http://dx.com/p/3v-12v-2500ma-5-mode-led-driver-board-162784

I would go with this driver myself as you can hide the blinkies, its also current controlled on all modes (no pwm) I’m just going to have a look how much this host is because I like the look of it a lot.

Yep, looks like that will work well too.

Hi Jason, just made my purchase from your website. Thanks for offering this nice DIU lighting kit.

Just received my TorchLite 2x26650 today. Aside from having to purchase an LED and driver for it, I’d say this light is easily worth much more than what we’ve paid here.

The anodizing is flawless with anodized tail threads too, but does need some lube. I can already tell this light will have great heat dissipation with all the contact area the way the pill screws directly into the handhold. The handhold then screws into the head which has a great deal of very fine threads. It actually takes a bit of time just to unscrew it from the head.

The reflector is very deep also, much more than my Small Sun ZY-T16. It’s about 51mm deep and about 46mm at the widest point. Should make a heck of a nice thrower with a high end Nanjg driver.

Thanks Jason!

my trigger finger’s REAL itchy

could you show a pic of the bottom of the reflector, and maybe how it fits in the head?

i’m thinking mt-g2 for this puppy J)

Hi DT,

Here you go. The actual reflector simply drops into the head, then the bezel is screwed on. The Torchlite is also about 30 grams heavier than the Small Sun ZY-T16.

In for one!

This should be amusing. Now to track down a driver and LED…

perfect photos. exactly what I needed. thanks very much.

as part of my new practice of controlling impulses, i will wait at least 10 minutes before ordering 0:)

Updated my photos in post 19 to show the large size pill.

I’m impressed by the ‘6 layers of anodizing’!

ordered.

What “hot rod” driver is everyone using?

will this one work? Looks like it does 3.5A!

Oh and Fast-Tech has the LD-29 that was posted above for cheap.

Lol! I was just sitting down to write that exact post!

My host should be here early next week. I’d like to get a driver and LED combo that will really make use of the 2x26650 batteries. I can weed through the various reviews and sites, but I’m sure the DIY Gurus here have some particular units that have risen to the top…

Suggestions?

That driver is out of stock.

That first one is the one I was going to order myself, but as previously mentioned, it’s out of stock. So I’m going to take a look at what Kaidomain has on hand. However, according to the specs for the pill, either would have worked. Just keep within the following specs and you’ll be fine.

*_Downside Inner Size(for driver board): 24mm(Dia.)×15.5mm(Depth)

Upside Inner Size(for LED board ):21mm(Dia.) × 6mm(Depth)_*

so, the burning question is: should a rank amateur such as myself pick this project as a first flashlight project? can you get suitable leds that are already soldered to a star to use in it? think beginner here. thanks. i would love to have a hopped up 2x26650 light on my telephone stand.
