XML throw questions

exactly why I use the higher rersistance cells..I have a couple that will allow a 4.6a draw and I label those so I don't use them in this light..

I don't mind the that it's 1-mode.

Any experience with the Brinyte xml-900 2-18650 at DX ? Is this one also a thrower?

The Ultrafire nh-t60 looks like a possiable thrower.

I am not going to order any more flashlights without without a thumbs up from BLF members.

So what do ya think brinyte xml-900 thumbs up or down?

Thanks for the help.

The Brinyte xml-900 & Ultrafire nh-t60 has not a deep reflector, i think, both reflectors are C8 similar (in deep ~33mm).

So, Brinyte C5 XML throws wider.

p.s. the hotspot and spill is much less, than my other XML lights, but the spill of the Brinyte "delete" the spill of all my other flashlights.

yep they look identical to the 3 mode uf drop in at manafont..pretty nasty driver i'd hate to see the current draw on an IMR cell..

Thanks Andi and Pounder for all the usefull information. Now I see there is a cree xml u2 1300 lm at KD. Not much info on it I am assuming it isn't a thrower either?

Looks like i'll try the Brinyte 1-mode.

Yes, for Throw, i think, the Brinyte is best.

I hope, the driver delivers the needed mA for a XML.

Review of the Brinyte with Q5 LED: HERE (unfortunately only in german)

WOW!!! I see what you mean. Nice throw!

The pics help to see how big the reflector realy is.

Thanks can't wait to get one.

Found good pictures of the reflector: @DX

...besides, the Brinyte D8 is the successor of the Brinyte C5, reflector has same deep, but it´s little bit wider. (little bit more spill and little bit less throw)

Review: HERE

Can be buy with XML: HERE (but found only a shop in germany, there it´s a little bit more expensive ;) )

still....the Brinyte C5 throws wider ;)

Thanks Andi...

You convinced me I ordered the c5 along with some free lights. Not at all sure about that though?

I will let you know how it works out.

ok ;)

I hope your leads will give correct measures, because i think 70% of the mA measures are not correctly ;)

I'll be suprised if they send it. They had flashlights for $0.00 so I had to add them to my cart. I have no knowledge of these lights. apparently they are expensive.

For free? I don't mind if they send me a cheap $5 copy

BTW, what cell do you use in your UF 980l? Will black TF 18650 handle those 4,6A?

I use flamed black trustfires (protected, 2400mAh, rechargeable).

I measure 5,7A LOL (ok, my "best" battery)

so, they can handle 4,6A ;-)

But all over 4A is only = more heat ;-)

How do you think this light would compare in throw and lumens to the Brinyte C5 or the UF 980L? http://www.dealextreme.com/p/trustfire-tr-1200-cree-q5-wc-5-mode-1200-lumen-white-5-led-flashlight-2x18650-3x18650-4x16340-57380

It's kind of overwhelming out there in cyber world. Lots of flashlights with little info.

I use the black red flame TF's..so yeah they work!

The TrustFire TR-1200 is not good for throw, it´s more a flooder.

p.s. if you use more than 1 li-ion be careful, else > BOOOOM

Thanks! Andi. I don't like BOOM boom sucks!!! I have seen that light before but it was more than I wanted to spend $45-$70. I am going to try to order a Brinyte XML C-5 again. This time I am not going to add any free flashlights to my cart.

I apologise for offtopic.

I'm planning to build myself more throwier XM-L light, so I thought buying a cheap (cree Q3-R2) thrower and swap the driver and LED from my XM-L P60, so I will end up with usable p60 drop-in and great xm-l thrower. What do you recommend? Maybe Trustfire USA168 (brinyte c5 clone) 20.55 USD or Kaidomain RQ 26.50 USD or something else?

WOW, Trustfire USA168 has nice price and yes, it´s the C5...cool.

At pictures i think the reflector of the KD RQ is max. 4cm long ?!

so, USA168 should be better for throw ;)

edit: Oh, i see, the reflector of the USA168 has a thread....nice, nice.
