My Nitecore EA4

flashlight man says that the EA4 kills the PA40

I think he meant that if the beam of the EA4 were floody like the PA40.

EA4 is more of a throwy beam

Oh ok… It still has flood but is more of a thrower.

Is there just one flat side on the body of EA4. Or does other side have flat also?

It has 2 flat sides.

What I’m starting to wonder is if I should by two? Are they good enough that I can ignore what will be coming out soon that might be better ? :frowning:

yeah, as cool as impressive as a small multiAA thrower could be, I’d get more use out of flood - ie, something between headlamp and thrower.

As I have both and did compare them too. Definitely more spill with the extra throw (bigger head and deeper lens) from the xml in the EA4. The tint makes my Fenix LD41 look cool blue but as I have mentioned in another thread, there is a purple ring present at the hotspot edge. It runs fine on 2000mAh Eneloops that I got back in 2010. BTW my EA4 is NW tint.

I’m not sure, but there appears to be a lot of ambient light in Rikr’s two beam shot photos. The second photo seems to show a lot of flood/spill on the house wall to the right and the car just ahead.

With all the members that have already received this light…Hasn’t anyone taken some beamshots in total darkness that provide a more distinct/truer beam profile?

Were you talking about the Maelstrom G5 in your comments about comparison that I have quoted below ?

Thanks Bruce

Yes I was talking about the Maelstrom G5 for the spill and throw comparison. I use an Eagletac 18650 in my G5 but have some cr123a's in a surefire cr123a caddy for backup. Sorry to confuse you with the Fenix LD41 comparison comment.

Thanks

The direct comparison really helps. Is the difference big enough to make the G5 irrelevant ? Also, when the EA4 steps down, is it still brighter than the G5 on turbo ? Sorry to pester, but your answers will make the difference in whether I buy or not.

Close this thread now and stop saying good things about this light. I DONT NEED ANYMORE LIGHTS AND I DONT HAVE $60.00.

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Too late for me. I already spent the money. Damn you Rick! lol!

hehehehe!!! You gotta love this site… We are one big happy family waiting to spend money we don’t have in the search of the Almighty light!!!

How can anyone not like BLF? It's got friendliest, non stuck up people around. Plus, the admin's awesome. This place is a keeper :)

Glenn, You are so right!! I look so forward to getting on here and being part of such a great group of guys and gals!! Everyone is very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to help another member out!!!

I have both and the EA4 wins hands down. Spill throw this thing has it all. The PA40s low is the only advantage it has going for it against this little beast.

Well, could you be so kind as to post a comaprative beam shot or two?

You ask and you shall receive

EA4

PA40

In person it is a lot more of a difference. This was my first attempt at beam shots so they are not perfect.
