My Nitecore EA4

The thread fizzled before my questions got answered. :frowning:

Thanks

The direct comparison really helps. Is the difference big enough to make the G5 irrelevant ? Also, when the EA4 steps down, is it still brighter than the G5 on turbo ? Sorry to pester, but your answers will make the difference in whether I buy or not.

Nitecore....

hmmm...

It has 2 wide flat grooves cut into the body. The top and bottom are still rounded and there is no anti-roll except maybe the button switch.

I am wondering how durable the clicky button will last and if there are replacements for it.

Please can someone please explain to the better half and my darling children why I am sitting her crying at a computer screen?

Your new years first up build is to build this flashlight so that dummys like me can learn how the aa batteries work in whatever configuration and how to make the switch work with what ever driver you deem that will make it all work. No pressure, you are the nMh king. Thanks in advance.

There is no anti-roll on the light unless maybe when you have the lanyard attached.

I see my EA4 is on the truck for delivery today. If I knew it was coming I would have done a complete analysis and break in for my XXXEneloops, but that takes two days.

I have ordered from IlluminationSupply at December 13 and shipped December 14, received today 21, 7 days from California to Istanbul.
It is faster then I expected. There is direct flights from LA to Istanbul. May be USPS using one of them.

It’s UI needs getting used to.
I have the NW version. Tried with alkalines, and and also eneloops.
It is very good, compact and with a good throw.

Can not managed to unlock from lockout mode.
The manual says:
To exit lockout mode, simply press three times within a second.

I have tried several times, but I could not unlock, so I have released batteries to unlock.
Just tried instead of pressing three times, I just pressed still about 2-3 seconds. it has unlocked.

The instructions to exit lockout is a typo and incorrect. To exit lockout press and hold button for a second or more.

I'm breaking in a set right now in my Maha C9000. I'll have my EA4 next week, probably Wednesday.

I didn’t know NiMH needed breaking in, what benefit does this provide?

It’s basically a process of totally draining and recharging them. It’s good to do with new cells, or ones that have been sitting idle for a while. You might say that it gets their juices flowing. NiMh actually improve in performance after they’ve been drained and recharged a few times.
I missed my parcel today. I’ll have to pick it up tomorrow. I’m going to give my cells a break in right now. I also use a Maha C9000.

Your sig kills me bort. Made me chuckle before I even say your avatar & id. Nice one.

Thank you, its a simpsons quote and quite appropriate for a flashlight forum!

This beamshot makes me glad I placed an order.

!!

Well that picture is way overexposed just so you know.

It is, but it still is a good idea of what the EA4 can do. It lights up the trees and the hill pretty good in person. Just not as intense. Great light!

Can’t you photo-shop adjust it to what it really is. First thought in my mind when I saw pic was this just can’t be.

That’s what happens when you take pictures in auto exposure with a very long shutter speed. Manual exposure with a 1.2 sec shutter would reduce that photo above by I would say 75%.

75%, not a chance. You would not even be able to see anything. Like I said before it is just a bit more intense. Look at the pics rikr first posted. This thing is a beast.
