NOW 70% OFF COUPON!! DIY TorchLite 2x26650 XM-L, SST-90, SST-50 etc Host!

my trigger finger’s REAL itchy

could you show a pic of the bottom of the reflector, and maybe how it fits in the head?

i’m thinking mt-g2 for this puppy J)

Hi DT,

Here you go. The actual reflector simply drops into the head, then the bezel is screwed on. The Torchlite is also about 30 grams heavier than the Small Sun ZY-T16.

In for one!

This should be amusing. Now to track down a driver and LED…

perfect photos. exactly what I needed. thanks very much.

as part of my new practice of controlling impulses, i will wait at least 10 minutes before ordering 0:)

Updated my photos in post 19 to show the large size pill.

I’m impressed by the ‘6 layers of anodizing’!

ordered.

What “hot rod” driver is everyone using?

will this one work? Looks like it does 3.5A!

Oh and Fast-Tech has the LD-29 that was posted above for cheap.

Lol! I was just sitting down to write that exact post!

My host should be here early next week. I’d like to get a driver and LED combo that will really make use of the 2x26650 batteries. I can weed through the various reviews and sites, but I’m sure the DIY Gurus here have some particular units that have risen to the top…

Suggestions?

That driver is out of stock.

That first one is the one I was going to order myself, but as previously mentioned, it’s out of stock. So I’m going to take a look at what Kaidomain has on hand. However, according to the specs for the pill, either would have worked. Just keep within the following specs and you’ll be fine.

*_Downside Inner Size(for driver board): 24mm(Dia.)×15.5mm(Depth)

Upside Inner Size(for LED board ):21mm(Dia.) × 6mm(Depth)_*

so, the burning question is: should a rank amateur such as myself pick this project as a first flashlight project? can you get suitable leds that are already soldered to a star to use in it? think beginner here. thanks. i would love to have a hopped up 2x26650 light on my telephone stand.

Hi Ken,

As long as you can do some simple soldering, I don’t see it as a problem. You can easily purchase an LED mounted to a star already, which I’m sure is what most will do. For example, I want my XM-L to have a warm tint, so I’m going to go with something like the 20mm version of this XML from CNQualityGoods.

yes, i think i can manage the soldering. this sounds like it could be fun…… and open up even more wasy to sped money and time on flashlights. thanks

The 3.5a driver is back in stock!!

I just realized due to the driver needing to be mounted on the underside of the pill, this type of driver will not work.

Ohhh. Good thing I didn’t hit buy it then.

Are you sure? Looks very similar to the one posted above!

What hod rod driver then?

Richie, why? Couldn't one just separate the contact board off of the driver and attach it to the contact board that comes with the light.

At this point I’m not sure exactly which driver to go with now. I’m going to have to open this light up again and look it over more carefully. Something just doesn’t seem right with how a driver would be mounted correctly and make proper contact with the battery.

I was looking around IOS and found an example of how this Torchlite needs to be set up. Unfortunately the Torchlite has a limited type of driver that can be used in it, but this will show you what it needs to become. Now I see why this company went out of business.
