Review: Nitecore EA4 (4AA)

It will have to be a sticker covering a sticker then

Very nice review and very nice light. I want this light, but I can not afford it…

1 beamshot up, working on the other one now and should be posted in 30 mins or less.

2nd beamshot added.

How many lumens ultra-low has?
I think it wasnt advertised at first that this light has ultra low, no?

Thanks for the pictures ezarc. Is there that much difference between the two different lights in actuallity? You must have a very understanding sister in law.

The “ultra low” is 65 lumens, its what Nitecore call it in the manual.

And yeah there is quit a big difference in light output, the PA40 puts out enough light to see pretty much anything in viewing distance.

I prefer PA40 but I’ll try to make myself use the EA4 more and maybe Ill warm up to it a little more.

It feels like the EA4 is made for baby hands (my hand takes up just about the whole handle of the PA40) and thats probably the biggest reason I prefer the PA40 over it, but it does pack a lot of punch for its size.

I hope there isnt another clone to be born lol

Great, thx for the comparing beamshots, very illuminating! :) def. pun intended! ;)

My EA4 CW is on its way from HKequipment…

Star mode is like nite mode. I can’t tell the shutter speed on those because there is no info.

But nice review.

Can it run on on four NiZn cells, or on two LiFePo4 with 2 dummy cells, or a single 14500 with 3 dummy cells?

It sure it will run on 4 NiZn cells fine.

Whit the other batteries you are asking about I don’t think it it would but I could be wrong, its not something I would consider trying.

If it runs on 4xAA it will work just fine on 2xLiFePO4 cells.

Couldn't two LiFePo4 cells be to much? I.e. with a 7135 driver it will run fine off 4 AAs, but two LiFePo4s would kill it. (Since they're 3.4 fully charged)

my lifepo4s come off the charger higher than 3.4v. usually its right in the 3.57-3.59v range. i wouldnt risk it personally.

Thank you!

I kind of hope there is, it would be the only way I could afford it, LOL.

ezarc, thanks for the review and photos.

This thread looks friendly. I see an opening for a talented craftsman here to show us all how this could be made in the average workshop for us poor people. Nudge nudge, wink wink. Please Mr Lumens.

Uhhhh, you got the lathe MRsDNFLaughing I can make a 4xAA 1D Mag thrower, maybe someday.

Thanks for the great review!
I hadn’t noticed the bezel gap(thanks! :frowning:  ), but I did indeed notice the rattle…
I wonder who is going to take it apart first and see if the issues can be remedied(or maybe we should just email Nitecore and ask them :quest: ).
