17650 instead of 18650 with o-ring?

Generally speaking, is it possible to use a 17650/17670 battery in a 18650 flashlight by adding a suitably sized pair of o-rings to stop battery rattle, or is there more to this than size?

I know that the capacity of 18650 is vastly superior but other than that would it be feasible / safe to do this kind of substitution?

No problem at all. If the light has a good spring, there probably won’t be any rattle anyway. I don’t think you will need to worry about using o-rings either.

Yep, it will work fine. I would just wrap it in a bit of paper rather than dealing with orings though.
