Review: Romisen RC-A4X Q5

Im not going to bore you guys with lux numbers and graphs since i have no programs or light meter to go by. But i can tell you my experiences with this little light. For the price its well made like all there other lights- o-rings came lubed, no fingerprint smudges on the lens, and its a forward clicky with one mode, and the best part is the light has a clip installed which is removeable of course. They do make a 2 mode version but i hear that the single mode is brighter so of course it was the light for me. I ordered the light from Bryan over at shiningbeam and he also carries the 2 mode as well. The light can use primaries and rcr's but if you want a little pocket rocket then go with rcr's. I didnt like the screws that held the clip in place so i opted to put in two button head metric screws and some loctite. I will be posting whitewall beamshots a little later when it gets dark here.

All lights were using AW 16340's and charged before use. Taking a look a the pics its nice to see that my Q5 N3 has about the same brightness on an rcr. Im sorry that i did not include a pic with the light using a primary. All shots were taken at about 3ft, using a tripod for the camera.

And another pic that i would like to include is the RiverRock 1watt.......its a nice light that you can get at target.....but the only downfall for me is that it uses a luxeon led.

I turned on the 5-star widget for you. Nice review! Let's get a rating for this thing...

Thanks man.....i gave the light 4 Stars for price and build quality, i know you can get it cheaper at DX but im not the kind of person that likes to wait. My wife hates it when i tell her to check the mailbox....lol.....or keep an eye out for the mailman. I was going to do a vid as well but might do it for another light that i have in mind.

Nice review Al! I also have the 1 mode version (but in grey) and have been carrying this light for a couple of weeks now. It is just a no nonsense, instant output, nice throwy beam (great on rcr123), quality light.

The only thing I don't like about the light is I was unable to get right fit with the clip to use daily for clipped pocket carry. The clip was either to tight (and too much work to get off my pocket) or too loose and came off the pocket too easily. I found a great solution though as I belt carry this light exclusively and I'm all the better for it as its a better fit and now I don't have both my left and right pocket partailly obstructed by clipped lights...one pocket remains wide open now.

I also had to play with the tension of the clip as well....used blue loctite to keep the screws there, i changed out the silver screws for button head metric sized ones.

Al, how bright is your light? I continue to be impressed with how bright mine is...

It's brighter than my Zebralight SC50 on a 3.7v lion who's top output is listed at 193 lumens and it isn't far behind my Eagletac T100C2 who's listed top output is 220 lumens. So I think this A4 is pushing out 200+

That sucker is bright.....compared to my Romi N3 Q5 the A4 is a tad bit brighter......I am very impressed with the quality of the light and also the price.

Hey bud just wanted you to know that Bryan just got the R4 versions of the RC-n3 in.......now that might just beat the A4, but then again the A4's that we have are only Q5 versions.

Order mine earlier this week, 2 mode, neutral tint..... too excited already

Got mine yesterday..

Got the neutral colored beam Q3 ... a bit yellowish compared to my Nitecore EX10 and SF XP-G, throws a lot better than the EX10, but for indoor use the EX10 has a floodier light and seems to be brighter.
