1xAA stainless steel light - preferrably Maratac AA, or something like that

Howdy all,

as if life wouldn't provide enough problems by itself already, I create even more for myself. But they say that sharing helps, so I share my problems with you.

I am looking for a new EDC. Weight is considered negligible, so are tailstand capabilities and forward switches on this particular one.

All I want is a decent stainless steel light powered by one single AA cell.

I have looked at the Maratac AA and liked it VERY MUCH, but no vendor that actually offers that light will send it to Germany. Bummer, I thought they already lost the war 66 years ago and are friends with everyone in the NATO??? Oh, nevermind. Must be some other reason.

Then I stumbled over the iTP EOS AA - nice torch, indeed. Still, I like the Maratac's knurling much better.

I searched some more, and came across the Aurora SH-035 which comes at a really tempting price at DX - but it is HUGE!

CR123A is out of question on that particular one. AAA is a no-go as well, multi-celled lights, no-go too. This one is straight after the KISS concept: Small (should fit in one hand eeezily - say, like 2-1/2"/ 75mm overall length, something like that), powered by 1xAA or 14500 (runtime is not an issue unless it is much less than 30 minutes), maybe three modes (one single mode @ 100% would be OK as well, and no strobe needed). Output? Dunno, maybe around 100 lumens, the more the merrier, but what do I know - when the sh*t hits the fan, I count on light, not numbers. I guess 15 lumens is PLENTY in an underground facility at night when ALL the lights go out unexpectedly. So, while "bright" is good, a huuuge number of lumens is not mandatory. Sometimes my workplace is three storys beneath ground, all sealed by reinforced concrete, around the graveyard shift (meaning nobody else but me being there to help find the emergency generator in case of a power outage)

No self-defense scenarios either - All I have to fear are loonies from a nearby forensic psychiatry (police takes care of those real good) and European wild boars (when they come, they are either alone or in packs of like 50, and make enought noise to alarm you). I don't have a carry permit anyways, and don't plan for one either. I rather seek cover, run or hide. In Europe, carry permits are for zombie outbreaks or doomsday, and currently we are far from both. (just in case there would be a zombie outbreak or doomsday, I doubt the feds would thoroughly check the legitimacy of centerfire-cartridge firearm possession - besides, I still own a genuine medieval crossbow.)

Okies, back to topic:

1) Is there another stainless 1xAA light out there available for civilians in Germany (sorry - no US APO for me anymore) other than the iTP, Aurora or C3?

2) (preferred! hint, hint...) Is there anyone willing to part with his/ her Maratac AA ss and send it to Krautland (i.e. Germany) - I can pay through PayPal or even send cash US currency through snail mail, if that is more to your liking. Could even go to the bank and change to any other currency - you see, I really want that light, unless something better arrives.

Cheers,

Simon the Sixfink

N-light , is 3 mode with tail clicky , but costs more ..

Available in AA and AAA .. I have the AAA and ordered the AA [ which is taking a long time , too long ] , China Quality Goods ...

The Maratac Stainless is just about as small as it gets, and is 3 inches. (It's my daily EDC-sorry to make you jealous!) The iTP in SS is a bit slippery, due to the less grippy knurling+polished SS combo. Gimme a sec...

Never mind, unless you want the natural AL or brushed AAA. You can always do a package forward...

I've heard a rumor that a certain member here might be looking to sell off a few NIB Nitecore EZAA's... Might be just the thing you're looking for. (Psst....Boaz....Come in, Boaz....)

I like the nitecores they are just great lights ..the ezAA is small enough to edc as a AA. if you want one I can ship it with the metal tin box or without a little cheaper 35 plus shipping , they aren't stainlessbut they are light and as small as a AA gets if you want something to edc . ..just PM me if you want one ..

I was gonna suggest the N-light stainless steel too but it's a lot bigger than 2-3/4 " it's 3-3/4"x3/4 "

The b2s pulls 2.29 amps on high ,,1.45 on med and .22 on low with a 14500 in it at 4.2 volts

The N-light B2S is a nice looking torch, but is fairly large.

I am comfortable EDC'ing a Match's-mod-minim@g (used to be a terralux minim@g), and it goes well with a regular business suit (Heck, depending on the cut even a 6P can be carried concealed and unobstrusive in a V70 speed holster - yes, that ugly chunk of plastic.) Now, 3-piece suits with less drape or even a tuxedo, well, that's another thing, and that's where I want a small light.

Boaz, that offer IS tempting! Let me think about it some more.

I just listed them so It’s no big deal I like the nitecores or I wouldn’t have bought a bazillion of them … The b2s is a screamer … like 310 lumens <<<<( guess ) on a 14500 .It smokes every drop in I have except xml’s or mce … it’s so bright on a 14500 it has no low anymore … you have to run AA’s to get a usable low … it’s too bright … one my top ten fav. lights… So are the nitecore D-10,ex10 and the ezAA is going on my key chain. it smokes every AAA I could put on there. it will probably be my first real edc key light…don’t know yet …I run real lite .

I have the N-light AAA stainless . don't like it .. too small too heavy .. just feels odd . I think you'll feel the same way about the martac / itp AAA's too tiny . too heavy.too bad .

By the way, 4Sevens ships the Fenix LD15 for free across the world, its a tad smaller than the maratac, but Al.
