Review: UltraFire UF-T1 AAA / 10440 - 2 mode EDC

How about battery rattle as in previous DQG?
Does it have a foam ring like the new DQG to hold the battery firmly?

There is a foam insert in the head but there is slight battery rattle ..

Still something I never noticed over several kilometers of walking over the last 2 days .

No, it’s not

Length: 59mm
O.D.: 12mm
Weight: 11g

They are prety much the same light. Go ahead and get one UF-T1 (though it’s only in cool white LED and I better like neutral/warm tint)

DQG III, UF-T1

57mm, 59mm
12g, 11g
TIR optics, Reflector (hot spot)
Magnet tail, Better keychain point attachment
1.2-1.5v, 1.2-3.7v (not tested on Li-ion)

Thanks for the extra info, I'll think a bit more about it then...

Does anybody who owns this light have problems with it. I had a hard time turning it on and keeping it on. Turn to tight it goes out turn to loose and it also goes out. It had a very small sweet spot for turning it on. And now I can almost not turn it on at all.

As stated in the OP, overtighten for turning on can make it stop functioning. Your problem sounds like a worn out o-ring…

I’m not home now but I will try a new O-ring when I’m home. But how can a O-ring have something to do with the electrics?
Btw I have this light form the end of december 2012.

A new o-ring will make the “sweet” point easier to find again. Don’t lube the threads too much.

EDIT: You might got a defective unit as well…
A this point I think the DQG II/III is way better quality

I tried a 10440 in my T1 - don’t recommend it. It fried someting in the circuit. It still works but the output is REALLY low.
The high mode is now maybe 5 lumens and the low is something like 0.1 lumen, moonlight mode

Manafont specs say it should work with li-ion so I did complain to them, they said they would replace it if I send it to them.
But I don’t think I’ll bother to, it works as a night light now with the really low mode. It would of been nice to have it on the keychain but not with the current output. I might get another one though, I like the size and feel of it.

Get a DQG III instead. Much better quality than the UF-T1

I don’t seem to have the right O-ring. But I think something is wrong with it one moment it seem to work pretty well and the next moment it is (almost) impossible to turn on.
Thanks for thelp. I may hope the DQG is better it is 2,5 times the price I paid for this one.

JH: I tried LiFe 3.2V and it works fine and I had no problem with it. The problem I have now was already before I tried LiFe.

And for a similar price you can pick up the Balder TD-0. It takes 10440 just fine and is well built. You get a beam profile very similar to the SE-1 but even more floody.

However, I am liking the bare metal EDC as well. I like to know it can rattle around with my keys and such without showing obvious scratches and dings.

It’s a pity the DQG SS is discontinued/out of stock (glad I purchased a bunch!). I would not go for the Ti model as its threading is not easy to operate with one hand.

I think I solved the problem. I cleaned the threads very well. And it looks like it works even better then when I just got it. But what is the best way to clean the threads in the head?

Thanks very much! Frontpage’d and Sticky’d.

Hi, I’m out of Germany and looking for a UF-T1, working with 10440 (3,7V).
