thermally conductive putty

I've been wondering whether there's a putty-like thermal compound that we could use for p60 lights with big air gaps. I googled "thermal conductive putty" and found a bunch of interesting pages, including these, for example:

Has anybody ever tried any of these?

Would have to fix it so it wouldn't goober down into the battery tube. Or, does any of that stuff firm up so it wouldn't flow all over the place? Looks similar to the stuff I use between CPUs and heat sinks, AKA Arctic Silver 5.

If you want something that stay in place without flow everywhere you need thermal glue. Obviously the con is that is a permanent solution.
