DX Customs declaration!

They say, For orders shipped with Airmail Service, the name of product category will be used as declaration and the declared value for most countries is between 30% to 60% of the package value. Norway/France/Demark are exceptions and use the real value. Besides, without specail requirment, invoices/receipts are never included in the packages.

Does anyone know if paying for the $1.70 bulkrate thing allows you to order multiples of only just ONE item or can you get the discount on more than one product? ie: 4 units of flashlight X and 5 units of laserpointer Y at the discount prices

Multiples of all items!

Used to do that alot. Switched to KD for the multiples without having to spend those 1.7usd (really a unneeded expense) and the faster shipping of course. If only MF would start suppling exotics like KD does but they are getting there...

They'd probably still be 10-20% more expensive as with most other items.

You do have to watch the price though - sometimes you get a discount off a price that is quite a bit higher than the one for a single item. I only do the Bulk Rate thing with a calculator to hand. It doesn't necessarily save money.

I use the Bulkrate often. Small example of my last order:

3x 18650 Trustfire 2400 mAh (sku.20392): Price for a pair: $9,57, for 3 pairs $8,38 (each pair) - I save $1,19 each pair.

Then I buy some cheap holsters (sku.1374): Price for a pair: $2,74, for 3 pairs $2,18 - I save $0,56 each pair.

Totally save: $5,25 and pay $1,70 for Bulkrate = $3,55

+1 very true

Now I have my DX package. The wrote thecorrect descriptions on it, but not the correct prices.

They wrote pretty much the exact half of the item value for me.

All of this is pointless, custom's officials aren't dumb . I know for sure that in my country they check the SKUs right from DX, some guys received unopened EMS packages with the exact tax invoice...

Just hope HMRC officials here don't read this! Ours seem to have other stuff to worry about. Which suits me just fine.

Especially as our free import limit has just dropped from £18 to £15.

In fact we don't have a true free limit since by law all but books pay 50% no matter what. It's the simplified form for private non commercial imports through officials post only, by carriers is a nightmare.

We have an exempt of 25 usd yearly , that mean that a 100 $ stuff pay tax over 75 .In practice since I live in a mega city they let all small things pass untaxed , only packets weighing more than 500 grs are stopped but not always , sometimes they stop small things or let in big things...

In provincials customs with few traffic and a lot of time they tax all, even a 3 $ keychain

Also the list of forbidden stuff is huge but is not enforced...

In Belgium, there is no extra tax on packages cheaper than 22 euro. But if the customs think the price on the package is lower than the real value, it becomes much more expensive.

I had to pay 62,05 euro extra to get the Magicshine bikelight, if the price on the package had been correct, i only hat to pay 21% taxes... That would have been about 20 euro, so i have payed 40 euro too much.

I try to keep each order under 22 euro, i don't order too many items at the same time.

Just an odd thought, but would it really be dishonest for them to put their cost on the delcaration instead of the retail value? The price we pay is after markup, shipping, overhead, etc etc, after all, and it seems a little excessive that we should be asked to pay duty on anything more than the wholesale cost of the item itself.

I can be considered happy. 22€ limit per parcel including shipping. No limit on parcels whatsoever. More than 50 or 60 this year. Totalin more than 100 in almost a year. I was worried someone would call an inspection on what the heck is someone ordering a ton of junk from china but it seems no1 care cept the mailman who told his coworker once: Oh it's him the guy with all that stuff we carry to him from China... disgruntled to carry all those envelopes in their smallish bags.

I gave them for a beer. Only occasionally they brought the stuff at my door. Since that pocket change for a "beer" i happen to get all my packages put in my mailbox since. He takes the time to open the big box and stuff them inside instead of just leaving the little paper. :) How nice they are. Beer moves even mountains it seems.

I however cannot order:

- Firearms (never wanted either)

- Many cold weapons (pocket knives never been a problem lets hope the 962 big one does not get cought)

- No 230VAC appliances without genuine CE marking (not China Export marking)

- No replicas of known brands (sunglasses, dresses, shoes, hats...)

- And absolutely no GSM phones of any kind. Especially allergic to those.

Last time i recieved 10 XTAR 18700 2600mAh and it was inspected. Now way those were worth under 22€ but they thoght it was cheap crap batteries. :D

They seized 4 packs of xmas led lights at 6usd each i ordred from LT. :/ I'm happy becaue those could have burned my house down. :) <-- just pretending it was the best for me

Since that pocket change for a "beer" i happen to get all my packages put in my mailbox since. He takes the time to open the big box and stuff them inside instead of just leaving the little paper.

Thats not a bad idea. I will try to reward/bribe my mailman too. He could easly steal any of 80+ untracked packages, but so far there were no problems. Maybe I will give him one stinky BLF delight, if he doesnt like beer

Always be nice to your friend mr. mailman. :)

They curse alot when they ahve alot of packages to deliver as this takes time as opposed to sticking a paper in the mailbox... let alone carrying all that stuff. :)

I've never had any package from DX opened by Customs. About 600 of them in the last 6 years. All but two of the packages from the USA have been opened. The escapee was worth US$700. That would have cost me a LOT. The last one from the US cost me more in duty and VAT than the light had. The light cost $175, the shipping and taxes cost $200.

I get annoyed by the whole tax situation...

Obviously I don't want to pay it, but surely it is someone job to make sure we do...so why they heck are they not doing they job! It's one of those things, I just like to see things done properly.

I've imported some big things in the past - a 3meter glider costing $300 sent via USPS didn't even attract the attention of the tax man, I just can't think why. I've had 4 or 5 items sent from the states via UPS or Fedex that were worth +£20, I of course got charged and charged again on every one of those.
