FastTech TrustFire 26650 - are they fakes?

I received these last week… Winder why the different wrappings?

I noticed they have two TF 26650 listings. Both appear to be protected; the black ones are slightly cheaper. I ordered the regular flame wrapper ones, as those are the ones people have been talking positively about.

How about these? Are they fake? ;)

Oh no! Not an UltraFire look-a-like! I wouldn't touch them!

Because of this, I'll avoid Trustfire flame 26650's too. I'm glad we have Kumabear, but the proliferation of fakes in the 26650's is unfortunate for those in other countries.

Pictures hadn’t even crossed my mind, I’ll put some up and I’m going to run another charge/discharge to see if the numbers are better after I’ve fixed my hobby charger.

Thanks TNG!

On the other hand, the normal 18650 2400mAh TF Flame I got from FT really shines.

It got around 2440mAh discharge down to 3V (would reach 2500 going down to 2.7V), and to top it off even maintain higher voltage throughout 1A discharge against unprotected Sanyo 2600 (also from FT).

Are Sanyos Q41A/Q42A? These is strange.

I received the Trustfire 26650 from DX. They look the same as the right one in the picture. The top has extra large vent holes.

The batteries are put against the IMAX B6 charger. First I discharge it right out of the package. The remaining capacity is +/- 3000mAh. Not bad.

I charge the 26650 to the maximum. Then with 1A discharge I get 4016mAh. With a further discharge of 0.1A I manage to squeeze another 280mAh out.

A total of 4296mAh capacity. Not the same as the rated 5000mAh but in line with the other brand 26650 cells. The Trustfire 26650 looks legit to me.

I received a pair of the black Trustfire 26650s from Fasttech this morning.
Charged them to 4.2v, rested them for an hour, then did a 1A discharge test on one down to 3V on an imax B6.
Final score - exactly 2800mAh. Not very good.

Emphasizing that yours were the black Trustfires and not the "flames". Thanks for posting your test though!

I recall getting 3500 or something like that from these.

I have some on the way from Fasttech (4) and Tmart (2). I’ll do some tests as well to see if there’s any consistency.

I am just about to order a set of these (well two sets as I need 3) for an Archon D33 (also about to order).

Understand from reading this forum that DX supplied cells, whilst cheaper than Manafront had lower capacity so as not much in it was going to pay the extra few bucks. But then found FastTech at $16 for two - now not sure its worth the extra $10 ($20 totall) buying from Manafront. How are you guyus getting on with FT supplied version?

Mine have been fine, but I haven't done any testing and can't report on runtime either. I totally trust FastTech's Trustfires more than anywhere else.

+1, and I’ve done some testing; the capacity is about the expected 4000mAh. Protection circuit looks OK, as I removed one.
Here’s the exact item I ordered: SKU1076400

I was about to order but in the drop down if you choose the protected version it changes to 4000 Black and silver version…what gives?

I need 3 for use in an archon d33 so believe I need to make sure they cells I use are protected.

It also says BATTERY CAPACITY 2800 mAh on the specs on the page liked above?

The one I linked says actual capacity is 4000mAh. And, they do have protection, like it says in the specs. The drop down and title is a bit confusing, should say protected there.
