Yes side switch, and yes 3 C NiMh's (even 3AA's in AA->C adapters) should do 3A easily.

Nope, that's the older model many picked up around Black Friday. This one has a HUGE head. I checked the HD website and it's not there.

I just checked the store next to my work in Charlotte NC and they didn’t have any. They did have the mag 4d replacement bi-pin bulbs though.
In a local store, it was in a small standalone cardboard aisle display near the flashlight section, but it could be placed anywhere in the store. I had to ask around and a HD worker actually located it for me.
I park in the HD lot next to work, I’ll have to check to see if they have them in stock in the morning.Thanks Garry!
