I received 4 Photon X Micro Lights the other week and these are some really amazing little lights. I'm not sure how bright high is but it's plenty of light for a keychain light (my guess would between 20-30 lumens). I paid about $6.50 each for these lights on ebay (though the seller took about 24 days to deliver because the 1st shipment was supposedly lost and the 2nd shipment was very slow).
The UI is amazing as this is a ramping light with a shortcut to high (single click) and a semi shortcut to low (hold button and light ramps from low to high...so just release button at desired brightness). It also has hidden blinking modes which can only be accessed by holding down the button through the ramping sequence until the blinky modes show up.
The light also comes with a nifty little harness and string that allows for neck carry. This is how I use the one I carry...I removed the key ring and attached to the harness and I wear it on my neck under my clothes and it's so light and unnoticeable that I forget its there
I guess the UI is close to the Ultrafire UF-H2B and UF-H3D reviewed by Mr Admin and Don respectively. This little light has me thirsty to try these ultrafire front facing flashlights...especially considering the reported runtimes
This is on my list of things to buy... well actually I'm thinking of going for the photon freedom micro instead. The freedom is meant to be more durable, but has the same UI.
I'm surprised at the 20-30 lumen estimation. Most 5mm LEDs only give out ~10 lumens
I've been neck carrying this bad boy for over a month and I absolutely LOVE this light. It is the most useful light I own for the following reasons.
1) Small and compact. I carry this around my neck under my shirt on the included little neck harness thingy. I absolutely forget I have this thing own as it is super light. As someone once said, the best flashlight (or knife, multitool, etc...) is the one you always have with you. I wear this light daily under whatever shirt I'm wearing and it goes unnoticed until I need it.
2) The UI. The user interface is just so smart and incredible (to me). Shortcuts to both high (click and release) and low (click, hold 1 second and release). Invariable brightness ramping to pick your brightness level. Hidden blinky modes that are there if you need them but out of the way if you don't.
3) Low low and decent high. This light may have the lowest low mode I've ever seen. I have nothing to measure it but lights with 5 or 7 low lumens look like they're on high when compared to the low mode on this light. I have a Zebralight SC51 (that no longer works) that had a reported low of .2 lumens, and the Photon looks to be just as low as the zebralight was. Just incredibly low yet very useful in night/dark situations. I can't gage the high on this light but I thought it was brighter than 10 lumens when compared to some other lights but I could mistaken here. But I do know that the high is bright enough to be useful and has done the job the times I've needed it.
The only con on this light (for me) is the reported 12 hour runtime you get on fresh batteries. I have to be nearing the 12 hour mark on the one I carry daily but no sign of light loss or functionality yet. The good news is that 2 CR2016 batts needed to operate this light can be had for a $1 and replaced in the light.
All in all, just a great keychain/neck light that can do it all. Battery junction caries them for $5.75 each and I'm thinking of buying a few more to have around the house and to give to love ones.
I will be able to tell how durable this light is in the next couple of months as I gave one to my sister to keychain carry and she has already destoyed a Quark mini 123 and a ITP A3 from keychain carrying.
I certainly should. I haven't gotten around to it yet and I have to look into where I bought it and exactly how the warranty works (vendor vs. manufactorer).
