Shadow SC600 vs UF-T50 -- Winners Announced -- The Lights Are Done!!!!!!!

Are you one of them?

Yes, it would be awesome to see their reply.

If they replace it we can run a fund drive to pay them back. Plus every 1 dollar gives the donor 1 chance to win it.

Thanks Justin for your thorough assessment. I didn’t realize they were this bad and am thinking it doesn’t make sense to do much with them, except maybe what kbark (#276) and Johm (#277) suggested. Any other brilliant ideas anyone?

P.S. Torture testing Zebralight’s warranty seems like another interesting possibility!

I don’t know of whom you speak ?http://budgetlightforum.com/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/Roving/bigsmile.png

ohhh maybe because it would be candle - power ? and this is a forum …….

no I’m not one of them if that’s what we are talking about but I guess each would have 1 candle power

Perhaps contact the manufacturers, show them this thread, let them know it’s for a good cause. Develop some public awareness with the manufacturers help. Then auction them off for charity ?

+1

This has been very informative thread, with over 4500 reads, 275+ replies.

The "testing" applied to both lights would be considered "extreme" in some tests, other "tests" I think would be considered Research and Development (the manufacturers should do, but do they?) I'd like to see what (if any) warranty consideration would be given to the Zebra.

The Backbone of any corporation, How do they Take Care of a Customer, AFTER the SALE ?. Like Leatherman multitools, guaranteed to work or they repair/replace to make and keep the customer HAPPY.

Justin has given his medical opinion and thorough assessment, while he has worked some amazing miracles, he must have something to work with, my opinion is, Do Not Resuscitate.

Remember, this is already a giveaway (see OP) and I’ve already selected the winners, just haven’t announced yet because the (rebuild or not) fate of these isn’t settled. That means, if they’re restored or replaced they’d go to those winners. If not, then I’ll give the winners their choice of what’s left of these or new lights and if they want new lights, will do a separate drawing for these remnants.

I would love to see what the Zebralight CS would say and/or do if you sent the light in ...

I have contacted Zebra light. I have not heard back yet. I did not contact UF, since they are overseas and even if they wanted to send parts, it would take weeks, since the Chinese new years is just about upon us.

I could southern engineer them, if that's the consensus. I just think the Zebra light is a nice light and I would like to put it back stock. The UF, I don't care. That light is a cheap copy and to me, it doesn't matter if it turns out something else. I can do something. It just won't be pretty, but you know what? That was the whole point of this thing, to make what I can out of them, so I will, even if they end up being candle holders.Tongue Out

Just give me a few days. I will know how it is going by Monday. I need the week end to think things out.

Shipping from China usually takes 2-3 weeks, thats not too much.^^

If Zebralight customer service doesn’t pan out…

Another vote for using them as a twisty. Tho please don’t permanently seal the switch. Silicone sealant should be removable. Give the future owner the ability to try other mods so the lights can have a continuing journey! Perhaps they will be passed around like BLF mascots!
Direct drive, AMC7135 single mode or maybe 8* AMC7135 low, med, high . If the twisty is easy enough for mode cycling.

Looks like nobody here is even considering the Uzi test. That would’ve been kinda neat to film. :frowning:

Well, we tried external pressure with the two of them. I say replace the battery in each with an M80, run the fuse out of the switch holes, and test them for internal pressure resistance. >)

Turn the T50 into a single mode mule, the SC600 should try and get warranty service from ZL.

That’s pretty inspiring….to apply this ‘never-say-die’ spirit in life as well as lights!

I can’t wait to hear zebralight’s response….

i think that is a great idea… we are testing the limits of these lights. after all, if theres a warranty, how far will that warranty go???

And if they do fix it, I think we know what to do with it. Just need to make sure it comes from a different address each time. And who ever has it when they refuse to warrant it keeps it. :P

lol. so its kind of like russian roulette. we each take our turn, who ever bites the bullet, errrr, wins?

Weld ’em up into a steampunk hybrid !

Would like to see it as a BLF “perpetual trophy” light !
