I am going to start with the UF T50 first. I have decided it will have a TIR optic with an 8x7135 driver and the tail cap will be the switch (twisty).
I have tested the led. It works. The TIR is a gift from a member here and it is 26mm, but it is not for an XM-L. We will see if it will produce a good beam, or a terrible beam.
I have a lot to do, so this is just a teaser, naturally.
I was at the point where I had to do something with the UF, as far as the exterior, so I can finish the guts, so I decided I might as well paint both of them today.
The UF T50 gets a black with copper flake coating, followed by clearcoat.
The SC600 gets the rough Brown coating, followed by clearcoat.
The incandescent lights are my oven. Man I hope I never have to give up incans, or my body shop will be closed for good.
That's all for now. It will take 48 to 72 hours, before I can work on either light any more.
Remember how I said 48 to 72 hours. I lied to you!
The pill is all done and in place. It has an 8x7135 driver with three modes H/M/L.
Here's the TIR optic. The bezel is not round any more, but it is what it is.
Tail Cap. This light is now a Twisty!
Yep, since the paint has Copper flake in it, I used a Copper round to cover the original switch hole.
It's hard to show the copper in the paint, but in the sun, it sparkles.
OH, here's a little Bonus!
The SC600 is DONE!
The head.
The Tail Cap. This light is also a Twisty now!
I used a Brass round on this one. I think it matches the paint better.
I didn't do any build photos, because all I did was put in an 8x7135 driver. The led sits in the head, on a flat, so there's no pill and nothing to really show. I did mess up though. This driver has the stock five modes. Sorry 'bout that, but I ain't gonna take that sucker apart ever again!
That's all Folks. I would love to do beam shots, but I do not have an 18650. I just can't do them by trying to hold 3AA cells up to the light, while taking photos.
lol. you should have said you were just hiking a trail at the local high school and it dropped out of your pocket
should be interesting to see the response
What a tradition to start with! Perhaps from now on all manufacturers supplying BLF edition lights will test theirs like Shadow, Scaru and Mkett39 did as part of BLF critical tech specs to ensure worthiness in carrying the badge. Don’t say we never told them so!
The only place it contacted the head was where the bottom of the pill seated in the head. It was just a small contact spot to keep the pill seated. Other than that, it was dead air space.
Mr Lumens. I must be really stupid as some of the things you do to make something work Is probably very evident, but to me its not and I applaud your creativity yet again.
It would be cool to see a “BLF 6” or “BLF 10” listed on a light as a certifiability factor to attest to it’s ruggedness! Perhaps a CEO quote of “to the bottom of hell and the peaks of Neptune, this one will survive, oh wait, BLF did that already!”
Can’t wait to see the end results, OL…you’re impressive!
The color choice is great Now both become Old-Lumens style.
I think Zebralight will answer and they will send some parts or a new flashlight. It’s marketing (hope you read this Zebralight-team ) and what will happen, if they do this:
If some members will buy a new light and ask themeselves “should I buy a Zebra, a Spark, a Fenix or a Nitecore” they will remind at this thread “wait, Zebra has the great service and offer the forum some new parts/ flashlight. If they have such a geat servicea and the SC600 pass a lot of extrem tests without any problems, which shows the quality of the SC600 I will support the company and buy the Zebra”.
