"I Need to have that light!!!"

On my bike ride tonight, I stopped at the fishing pier and a guy saw me shining my manafont XM-L in the water (lighting up the crabs and shrimp ). He yelled "I need to have that light!!" and immediately started trying to haggle with me on the price haha!!

I really didn't want to let it go but this guy was totally in love with the light you should have seen him, his kids were jockying for position to try it out next, it was precious. We settled on 55 dollars for the XML in a 502b body, 2 18650's and a my trustfire TR-001 charger. Good thing my house was only 2 minutes away on my bike, I rode home and got the charger and extra battery and made the transaction

I have a cheap universal charger to hold me over. Now to decide on a new charger...and a new host...and new batteries. Hey this aint so bad after all, I get to look forward to more yellow envelopes in the mailbox!!

Haha, thats awesome! I have had a similar situation after using my light on a camping trip. These new LED lights really blow peoples minds when all they are used too are their oldschool lights.

Some guy after a fish trip went mad for the ledlendser headlamp . He have a big three D cells and almost cried when saw the XR-E working . Last week I got one for him from KD...

I have sold almost half of the flashlights I've bought to my friends and customers . At my cost + $1.00 . Hey , I got to play with 'em for a while for free .

great story!

Nice! Around these parts, people are awe stricken by this powerhouse flashlight of mine...

The flashaholic epidemic begins...

Update us on what you decide to replace it with!

My boss has been trying to snag the L2P/Ultra Fire 3-mode XM-L I've been using for the last few months. A while ago he asked how much I paid. I made him guess - he said "$80." I've got 2 grey L2P hosts on the way and I'm going to sell him one of my black ones with the UF T6 for $40. He's getting a free custom Foybezel so, he can buy his own batteries/charger.

Does that price include shipping?

LOL Good one.

Great story. Did you school him on li-ion batteries before parting ways?

Great story. Did you school him on li-ion batteries before parting ways? I did that with my buddy Norm and he was a bit worried at first when it came to charging his new 18650's.

I often do a bundle for those who ask or need one.

P60 body of choice. R5 or XM-L emitter with custom modes of choice. (Ak-47 or KD 2.8A driver) heatsinking optimization. Quality soldering, through cleaning, extra lubed. Optional coated lens. Hi-max 18650 battery replaced by XTAR 2400mAh lately or 2600 later on. XTAR Mp1 charger. Bike mount. No warranty of any king but most spares available if they need and service if soemthign goes wrong. A quick tutorial on li-ion safety.

Non technical people or those over 60+ that does not listen on what i have to say about li-ion (and i get the feeling they don't even care) are stuck with generic batteies flashlights (AA/AAA realm). Don+t want anything could happen to those who will drop their cells and stomp on them 4 times and put it back into a flashlight thinking it's just a battery...

I'm not earning much but the reasearch and workmanship involved is generally well worth the extra few coins i ask.

I do earn a few cents more by doing weapon "tactical" flashlights.

Helps to fuel the hobby but not by much. It's almost a humanitarian work.

You know, what you're doing is probably worth quite a lot actually. It's not just the materials cost, but also all the time you spend not only in designing and assembly, as well as countless hours of research on the matter (at professional sites like BLF =D).

Rant time!

The thing is that many does not think the work and knowledge involved has any real value. Common belief is also that anything sold in stores is 500% times better. Well upon handling one that change but they still are quite suspicious. Maybe i should charge more as higher price oten mean more quality for many...

The weapon lights require quite some work to make them right and reliable enough for weapon use (recoil). I use many non generic parts for those. Even thinking to have somone with a good lathe to make me some bits but for the interest i'm getting for those is probably not worth it. Maybe i could do like people on CPF does. Custom jobs for a decent price. Our country is at it's brink of economical failure. Nothing is being done to rectify this and people prefer to keep money fearing the worst. Also, wages are quite mediocre and cost of living is gettign higher and higher. That combined makes poor customers regardless of the quality of the merchandise.

My country with 2 million population that have 150.000 government employees fueled by 500.000 workers is a reciepe for total failure. We managed to excell in one thing. We are the most taxed country in the world. Our economy is getting worse day by day and many multinational enterprises are leaving for good and saying that i'ts economically unviable to have estabilishments here. (Johnson&Johnson, Toyota...)

/End of rant.

However, if making custom jobs wasn't fun i would probably never made any customized flashlights. Currently trying to perfect a new switch style (not QTC based). IF everything works out i might even put a patent on it. If it turns out nice i'll will have to look at my work on DX someday without any regard for intellectual rights. :/ LOL!

I have considered to move to NZ for quite a while... I like the climate and spoken language along with other stuff. Finding a job might prove very difficult. I really don't mind leaving my country (which is a bad thing to say but options to like to be here are very few)

I could copy/paste this, change the weapon lights with other stuff, and sign my name under.

I understand you Budgeteer. I do understand you a lot!

You are more than welcome to come to Australia, Budgeteer. We have some of the best beaches up here in Queensland. The great barrier reef as well.

Outstanding rant, Budgeteer!!! I highlighted my three favorite points above. That pretty much sums up why I don't bother pushing any of my mods. I enjoy em, that's good enough for me.
