DQG 18650 EDC--World's Smallest 18650 Flashlight

Yes yes, but keep it 2A

No, it’s a small flashlight with very limited heat transfer, 2A won’t give any more light than 1,5A. Even in much bigger Armytek Predator the difference between 1,5 and 2,2A is none, 0,7A is wasted as heat. Some people want it to be driven @3A. That would make it bright for a few seconds and cook the emitter after one minute. I think 2A is a little bit too much, not to mention 3A…

Good news then, Ric  If Panasonic fit - any other 18650 will fit too

Oh yeah? From what I’ve read the 2A Predator gets about 100 lumens more and therefore throws better.

I want a DQG 18650 EDC made of Titanium. With any emitter and tint I want. With a glass TIR. And perfect build quality. Driver should be selectable from 1 to 5 modes and from 500mA up to 4A. And I want it for 20$ delivered in 5 days.

Yeah.. whatever.

Ric has to order a lot of lights in order to get them made to meet his specs, so he has to choose something that works for the vast majority. If you dont like it, mod it. 2A and XML T6 3C sounds fine to me, XML2 3C would be better of course, but the difference is negligible. Also, turbo might be cool for some, but with a twisty head (and thats the only way to make such a short light) you cant just throw in 7 modes because it will get annyoing.

I paid 31$ for my DQG AA and its worth it. If we expect 50$ and its less, we all be happy. ;)

Also, this thing is smaller/not bigger than almost any AA flashlight. And brighter than most (stock)..

It’s a 100lm more than old XP-G 1,5A and throws better not only because of more lumens but also because of new emitter (XP-G2 has tighter beam angle). Predator with XP-G2 1,5A has about the same throw as the newest one with XP-G2 driven @2,1A.

Can’t wait to get my hands on one. The gray is cool.

Why should it be $19 more ?
The production costs may be higher by a few $ only.
You’ll need a bigger piece of stainless steel, another driver reflector and TIR lens, that’s all, isn’t it ?

Okay maybe it take a few seconds longer to bore the stainless steel host, so the total output in the factory is decreasing when compared to the AA version, but still……

From the pics I would say that the DQG 18650 will not be made of SS, looks more like aluminium, except for clip and bezel.

As you said, another driver, lens, emitter.. I dont know. We will see. I hope there will be an introductory group buy though. :)

can wait to get it!!!

Estimated release date?

Am I the only one who now hates multimode twisties? I used to like them in the past but with original DQG AAA, the mechanism (spring in the head controlling the modes) broke. The NiteCore D10 piston model is very finicky about the exact length of the battery. I had original Jetbeam AA multimode twisty and that too needed some hacking to get it to work correctly. I had similar experience with the Nitecore EZ.

Even though I love the short lights, I am no longer accepting twisties. They are difficult to work single handedly and always give trouble with different batteries. And forget multi-mode twisties, those are disasters waiting to happen. I would prefer to have low profile mechanical switches.

Ric-CN,
will the clip be reversible? Like Olight i3S EOS clip?
Reversible clip allows to attach flashlight to cap and the DQG 18650 seems rather light to be attached.

50 bucks seem alright. After all, I paid that much for both my Fenix LD20 and Mini-M@g Pro+.

I’m still in for one!

1. Are flashlight waterproof IP68?
2. Will be XM-L2 NW CW WW versions available?

Update:

Thanks for your attention to DQG 18650. This light will be put into production next week, about 10-15 days’ lead time.

DQG 18650 consider using the NEWEST XM-L2 CW / NW emitter.

We would like to know your thought about the color temperature.

1: CW (7000K-7500K) or (6500K-7000K) Or (6000K-6500K)

2: NW (5000K-5500K) or (4500K-5000k) Or (4000K-4500K)

Feel free to post your preference here, just a small inverstigation .

Thanks
RIC

The clip is not reversible.

Althought DQG 18650 is light, But With a 18650 installed,it’s still too heavy to be attached to cap.

Ric

It is fantastic that it might have the XM-L2 ! I have no opinion on the cool white tint , but the neutral I would like to see as close as possible to 4000K (so 4000K-5000K).

Any predictions on the price yet ??

just started browsing thru again and i think i need this one

been looking for a small 18650 edc.

Based on the info in Scaru’s excellent Tint, Binning and CRI thread,
I think NW (5000K-5500K).
