The reflector is a standard C8. At the moment its running a KD 7135 V2 driver and a dodgy XP-G2 which throws pretty good. Its not that different to a Q5. Hopefully the BLF mini driver will arrive soon.
Did you stand on your head for the pics or is it because your on the other side of the planet? Enthralled, but dizzy. :Sp
I'm not dizzy this end but that is my opinion. The pictures are fine here. Are thay upside down or sideways as in other posts some people report my pictures as doing strange things but I dont know why.
Upside down. Table is at top of picture.
I thought the last one was nice, this one is stunning! You do great work and I canât keep money in my billfold, what a team!
Big âthumbs upâ on that one!
Beautiful work⌠Iâm well impressed!
I miss everything! You need to PM me when you do a build, LOL.
That is wild! Really wild. I love seeing your builds.
Hmmm. I must off been sick last night. I have just given it away.
Now you have no choice but to build more. Better. Bigger (smaller?) More powerful. And let us watch through pics as you do so!
Kinda like sending a kid off to school isnât it? All that time spent, perfecting, polishing, and now theyâre out in the big bad worldâŚmaking someone ELSE happy! lol
How did I miss this build?
Iâm glad what I thought was correct, because I was going to ask the same thing.
One day, I will have one of your beautiful lights!
Someone is very lucky tonight!
I finished this light tonight and given it a quick run. After fine tuning the reflector to get rid of the rings all I can say is wow. Its not quiet in the HD2010 league but its not far behind. It leaves my similar light with P60 reflector in its dust. There is no comparison.
Jalben is the lucky winner of this light and it will be on a plane to him tomorrow. Jalben decided on a 6 x 7135 driver which is delivering 2.2 amps on high and a XP-G2 led. Believe it or not I've just ordered another reflector and LED to build myself one and the old fool is going to hold onto it this time.
I know Jalben has got to be excited about this one!
Will you show us the build on your new one as you go, a Work In Progress as it were? Would love to see it take shape. Something about that light, sure wish Iâd been the lucky winnerâŚ.
For 1 lux at 400 meters from a point source youâd need 160,000 cp.
There is a Maglite with 134 lumens, 37567 beam cp [comes out to a 3.86 degree beam angle] that gives a 388 meter throw.
How much power can you pull out of an AA cell?
Looks like the throw depends only on the beam cd, for which I figure youâll need ~48,000 cd. For a beam angle of 1 degree, itâs 12 lumens. For 2 itâs 46 lumens.
Iâve been using this light with a Efest IMR 14500. Itâs by far the best light I own! I havenât been able to find a decent white wall, so Iâll try for some night shots tonight.
H Jalben. Its orsm you have given us an update. You do wonder sometimes how your children are doing out in the big wide wonderful world. In the original post I said this was going to use a BLF Mini driver. This never happened and it ended up with a KD 7135 driver. I cant remember how many chips it had on it. If you ever have any problems with it let me know. Iâm looking forward to the night shots as I never really got to play with this as it went to you pretty much as soon as I finished it. Thanks again, cheers.
Edit. Just re read my post above and its a 7135 6 driver and XP-G2 led. Gees Iâm dumb.
lucky bugger. one of the coolest custom lights ever
The tail standing fountain of light
Turned down the exposure time and put it on moonlight mode.
Couldnât find a white wall, so the ceiling will have to do.
10 ft patio, moonbeam light is so low it doesnât really show in this shot.
Medium does though.
And max!
Over the rail to 20ft.
And the tree line at 50ft.
Thanks again Jalben. With that small hotspot It should be a reasonable thrower. One day Iâll build myself one to keep.
Those pics donât really do it justice, but that is mostly do to being done with a crappy phone cam. The hotspot is tight and bright and is definitely the best thrower I got.
