Nemo

Busy place, Long Island, a bit to populate for me.
Riverhead is nothing like I remembered it, going to see my grandparents.
I hadn’t been there in 40 years, took my mom a few years ago to see the house her father built. The last time we were there it was still a small house with a large barn and seperate office building (he had his own buisness) and about 15 acres of land. Now it’s a small house on about 15,000 sq/feet of land in a subdivision. So sad, I loved that place.

From the other thread

I ran the snow blower down to dry pavement 6 hours ago before bed and removed a solid foot of fluffy white stuff. This is what I woke up to and they are predicting another foot during the day today before it ends. So we are looking at a solid 3 feet of snow here on the coast of NH. Amazingly the power hasn’t even blipped probably because I spent two days charging batteries.

Sorry to hear you lost power, I am glad you have a generator. I have resisted the urge to buy a generator and we always loose power. I have a backup Kerosene heater that will keep the house at 80 degrees when it’s 0 out plus I have over 200 gallons of K1 on hand at all times so it’s not the end of the world when the power cuts out. I have gone 2 weeks before at this house without power during a big ice storm some years back. It was pretty boring, but we were toasty warm.

i will have to get some pics today to post up. it must have been real windy last night because all the snow on my porch has built up in the corner then the rest is bare.and for the most part my cars are cleared off… id say we have 2 feet here. i shouldnt speak so soon, but we havent lost power. no generator and my k1 heater is at my dads an hour away, so id be SOL. snow blowers broken too… should not have put off buying the recoil for so long

“E”, thanks for *_‘charging the batteries’!

_* It worked for us here in SE CT too. A couple of blips of power outages <5 minutes, but enough to give you a scare. Even your hotrodded C8 could not cut through the big blow.

Got the wood, got the 12v lantern system ready to go if necessary. (gotta rethink my position on kero, never have more than 2-3 gallons)

Now to figure out how to move 2’ snow and 3’ + of drifts…

Fun to look at, too old too shovel…

I hear you on the shoveling, luckily my girl is 12 years younger than me and in great shape so she shovels the deck and the rest I can do with the snowblower.

It was blowing so hard last night I had to turn my headlamp off it was just reflecting off the snow making visibility worse.

Wow!! That is unreal!! We don’t get snow like that but the last couple of weeks here have brought us –54F with the wind chill. Our biggest snowfall this year has only been a few inches so I can’t even imagine what you guys are all experiencing!

Honestly, I’d rather have that kind of snow than –54F but the last time we had a blizzard anywhere near those snowfall amounts, we had the flood of the century.

Good luck to all who are dealing with that incredible winter storm!!

yeah, id much rather have this snow than that cold weather. i used to be immune to the cold, but the last few years it has hit me.

we got somewhere around 18-20”… no biggie… wind blew most of the snow off the car… where i work got about 24”… but the next town over some how got 36”

For all the howling wind we didn’t loose power once, nice!

A friend gave me a call on his way home from work to see if I had any sheer pins for his snow blower. I taped them to a football and had my son toss it to him from the garage.

now that cop car would be able to handle a pursuit in this weather lol.
sure you just werent causing trouble, throwing balls at passing police?
its been a lazy morning so i havent gotten any pics yet

This is going to be a long cleanup 6 hours was way to long to sleep. The snow is a solid 30 inches deep with drifts over 40, much deeper than my snow blower by can handle.

Nemo aftermath. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be

The life saver

As a currently left-coast placed Easterner, I AM SOOOO JEALOUS!

Still snowing here, will be until later tonight, about 25cm down right now, 15-20 still to go apparently. Wind is starting to pick up, but the storm is loosing it’s intensity as it goes over the ocean.

That’s a very nice snow blower Glenn, and your house is gorgeous!!

Thanks Rick :) Talking about nice houses, dchomak's got a really nice house. and much deeper snow!

I couldn’t imagine all that snow!!! That’s crazy!!!

so i didnt realize that my loaner phone needs a memory card in it to take pics, so none from me :frowning:
about 20 mins of shoveling and i have about 1/20th of my driveway done… yay for procrastination on fixing my snow blower… may break down and get someone to plow, but i hate cleaning the gravel off my lawn and patching where the plow dug the lawn up…

I could really use a snow blower. :stuck_out_tongue:
