XM-L U2

It's dark at last (though a bit too much moonlight), but with a quick outdoor comparison against a wall at ~40m......the U2 is quite a bit brighter than the T6.

Same huge hotspot, but noticeably more light.

I guess that this dropin would fit the Ultrafire C1 without any other further mods?

So Tas, do you think it's a legitimate U2 emitter?

Using all of my analytical skills and diagnostic tools (ie.peeking under the protector)...........I haven't a clue.

LOL, the good ol' "it's quite a bit brighter than a T6" is probably good enough for me. In budget world, that means it is a U2. LOL

If only Cree would label the bloody things, then we would know if we were getting the real deal or not...bah!

Sadly we're not who they are making them for...they don't care about us, those big meanies :P

What tailcap current is the U2 pulling?

That's how Cree do it :P

Okay they use a machine, but that's still all it does :)

Guys,

I just finished up a new build based on the XM-L U2(2S) that I recieved from Cutter. Without spoiling anything I can honestly say the color on my samples is pure white, and output definately exceeds the T6. This is my new favorite XM-L flavor.

That's good to hear, Match. Looking forward to getting this guy.

Just keep in mind that if the U2 is packaged in a drop-in, it may be limited by whatever driver is used. I think that may be why some aren't excited about it.

Match, that's encouraging feedback. It may be time for me to pull the trigger. Keep us posted.

Sounds like it's time for a newb like me to get to get my feet wet and learn how to swap out a driver from a drop-in. Any suggestions for a replacement driver Match?

A question I was about to ask myself, thankyouverymuch.

Any 8xAMC7135 based driver would be a fine choice. There's one here, here, or, here. A single mode option is here.

I have got a XM-L U2 1A.

In comparison to a T6, hotspot is not brighter, only spill is little, little bit brighter.

They are labelled! on the packaging. The problem is where we buy them from don't provide us with photo proof of the label, or include any of it with the product. The codes are too long to print onto the emitter in a human readable language and size anyway.

Hey, Andi, what tint does it have? What T6 do you have? UF 3 mode from MF?

I compare a KD C8 XM-L T6 & the same flashlight with chanched U2 (@moment i have 3 of the KD C8`s....ordered for friends)

I don´t know, wich tint is the T6, but the T6 is more blue, than my U2 1A.

Tomorrow i get 3 x XML U2 1C.
