Aloha znmzdx! Some of my favorite edc's are the NiteCore D10, Fenix LD10, TrustFire XP-EF23, Akoray K-106, and Aurora SH-034. I swap these out every other day or so. The Nitecore and Fenix are not considered budget lights but they are part of my edc's. If I were to chose a favorite budget edc then it would have to be the TrustFire XP-EF23 because it's fairly small but the one thing I really like about it is the stainless steel smoothness of it. There's just something I love about stainless steel and it's shininess and smoothness.
I think I caught the stainless steel bug from Don.
Unusually, I only have two or three lights on me so I suppose they count as my EDCs - not counting the Photon clones attached to zippers. they are Fenix E01, Aurora SH-034, and a Tank007 E07. I've been reducing the size of my bundles of keys so have been pulling lights off them
I carry a little keychain LED (photon clone) on my keychain, so I guess that it is EDC. Also I keep an iTP A3 EOS 3-mode in my pocket every day. My AKOray at bedside has taken the place of a lamp there, and I have a Ultrafire WF-504B with a neutral white XP-G drop-in that I've really been liking too. Even though it is bigger than my Trustfire XP-E F23, the 504B has started taking its place when walking the dogs.
Though I enjoy budget lights, none are in my top 3. Lately, my top 3 EDCs have been Zebralight SC50 and Nitecore D10 clipped to either pocket and my Eagletac t100c2 in my bag.
In the post second above yours, there is a picture of a $175 light - actually by the time it got here nearer $300. Don't worry about it. All but three of the other lights there in the pics are certainly budget lights. When it comes to headlamps I've yet to see a budget one I'm keen on. It's Zebralight all the way. I bought an H50 several years ago and have never wanted any other headlamp.
Meanwhile, have lots of fun - this is a much nicer place than the big place and everyone's opinion counts so please do join in.
How do you like that Fenix - seemed an odd light to me? From the fact it's your EDC I presume you like it a lot.
So far I am liking it... although its brand new. I've only had it a week, so I am still on the honeymoon phase. I have owned enough of these things to realize strengths are easily realized fresh out of the box, and weaknesses take a few weeks to rear their ugly heads.
The first one I bought was machined wrong and was too tight for a duracell AA alkaline. So I returned it back to Frys and exchanged it for a good one. This one is OK.
Its a very nice, well made light though. Its plastic molded around an Aluminum case/skeleton. So its got a really solid, hefty feel. Holding it in my hand it feels as solid as my SF-G2.
Its brighter than I thought it would be. On a ceiling bounce its right in between my E2L (110L) and RC-N3-Q5 (145L). Its 125 Lumen rating is spot on. bigchelis measured one at 124.5L.
I love topics like these, because we get to see what everyone likes to carry with them or rotate out. For me i like to carry 1 AA light and one C123 based light. Really dont have a favorite at all but i have been carrying the L2m in cr123 format, the D10 that you see in the pic has been retired from edc rotation.
I'm the unabashed tightwad and shameless cheapskate here. In fact I'm even more scotch than a certain member of ours here who really is Scotch! Therefore, my every day carriers are:
And have been rotating a 47's mini 123 and a ITP AOS AAA.(both with li-ion rechargables) But it depends on what I am going to do in that particular day. These aren't my favourite, but are my most used lights.
I do prefer the power of the cr123 driven lights, but the small size of the ITP is more appealing.
I understand that these two lights aren't all that "budget", but I do like them a lot.
Other contenders that I also got, but don't get EDC used that often, but still awesome lights: TrustFire XP-EF23 (I have one in my pocket right now...), TANK007 TK-703.
Hey i did'nt get to name my 3 most used lights....for edc use i would have to go with L2m, ITP SA1, and the Romi RC-A4. These do get rotated out with other lights of course, i like to have one for indoor use and a small throwy light like the ITP C9 or the SA1.
